GA What's the most power anyone has put down using the stock ECU?

I see a lot of major HP upgrades running standalone ECU's, but that presents a problem for me since metro-Atlanta counties require passing an OBD II scan.

I'm wondering where the tipping point is that requires folks to go standalone. Being a n00b in this regard, please refrain from busting out flamethrowers if at all possible.

Thanks,
Mike

The stock ECU is better than any stand alone (bar possibly a Motec) . The stock maf will allow up to around 370whp before it maxs out . Past that you could easily just run a larger maf tube . The big limitation is finding a good tuner that is comfortable with flash tuning a maf based system vs a standalone. Practically ALL of them are more comfortable with MAP.

Short answer : No , there is no tipping point for a Renesis engine on the stock ECU at any whp level that has been achieved to date.

I thought the stock MAF maxes out around 600 grams/sec. I'm sure you could get more than 370whp from that.
