neon lighting

im planning to install a blue neon light in the trunk, but i had a few questions:

is there a special kind of light i need? or can i just buy a cathode tube like from Fry's or something.
where could i tap the power from? i have a 4gauge power cable for my amp in the back, could i get it from there?

if anyone has any DIY info, help me out please, i did a seach but could find nothing.

thanks

any 12v light will be fine.
i think you need to install a relay for it first.

The most simple and sure way is replace the current trunk light with the neon. I've done this with my current car. Simply buy a neon you like from walmart or Fry's, or whatever. Typically they come with cigarette lighter adapters on the end of a long cord. Not a problem...Find out which of the wires is positive and which is negative, they typically are marked. Mine had "++++++++" written all down the positive wire...pretty simple. Then mount the light where you want in the trunk. Next run the wire to the current trunk light, and leave yourself a bit of extra wire. Cut off the excess wire. Then use wire clips that crimp and splice into the current trunk light wires, both positive and negative. You can leave the stock trunk light housing, but simply remove the bulb, and you're all done! Not really difficult at all, maybe 15-30 min of your time depending upon experience. Oh, and this may the light will only be on when....the trunk is open! Thus, you've simplified the need to worry about it being on when you don't want and draining you battery!

Hope that helps!
