Nav system pissing me off

It's to the point where I like the Nav system, but it seems like everytime I try to use it with someone watching wow-eyed it goofs up. Like yesterday, I'm looking up Auto Zone, and it locks up! I had to turn my 8 off in order for the system to "reload". And then I'm like well I'll look up the phone number to Best Buy and it's not in there. Does anyone else have Best Buy on their nav? I mean it's got Best Grocery and all these other no namers, but no Best Buy!?!?! I'm willing to pay to have a better detailed update. You guys run into this?

The cd you have is around two years old. A lot changes in two years. I called up and the replacement cd is already made, but they claimed wasn't yet available for sale. I guess it will be out within a month or two.

I haven't seen my GPS lock up though.

But the thing is, this Best Buy has been around for at least 8 years. On my PDA GPS you can purchase the extra detailed guide to go along with the standard. That would be straight. BTW, I love those strakes dude!

Mine has never locked up. Is the best buy behavior easily repeatable? If so, why not have the dealership fix it?

That's not the time it locked up; it's the not having the Best Buy that I'm disappointed at.

I think they were excluded for one reason or another. I have found several large chains that I would expect to be in the map data and are not. I don't know who makes those decisions or how they decide but that is about the only reason I can think of. I imagine the problem is number of points of intrest that can be on the disc. You have to limit the database or have multiple discs (which still have a limit). It would be more annoying for them to filter the database and choose only Best Buy's in certain cities but not all.

I guess another possibility is that Mazda had to pay for a precentage of the total Map data. They could have gotten more but that would have increaesed the cost of the NAV system. Probably the only people who might be able to answer your questions is Navteq.

As for the NAV locking up. I'd ask my dealer about it. Mine has never locked up and I use it all the time.

Mine behaves fine, but the data is old. Part of the problem for me is that the Vegas valley is under constant expansion, however, roads put in within the last couple of years are not appearing on the system.
