does the 04 rx8 have a mute wire?
Hey guys I am trying to install a bluetooth handsfree into my car, its the parrot 3100 kit, I need to find the mute wire for the Factory stereo. Does it have one? Or am I out of luck?

I am getting to have that installing in my 8 as well. I would say yes it does have that mute wire, because the steering wheel has a remote mute button. Im having mine installed for $65 ate circuit city. Ill let you know if they cant do it.

Digging up an old thread I know but it appears to me that a mute function can be implemented.
I you look at the attached pic all the steering wheel controls run with an increasing series resistance. So it looks to me like the HU measures the resistance across terminals 1P and 1N and then applies the function appropriate to the resistance measured.
What I don't know is what the value of each resistor is. Next time someone has the HU out can they measure the resistance on connector J2-01 on the G/W and R/B wire while pressing each steering wheel button in turn.
I could do it, but I have only had my HU out once and Mazda kindly taped all the harnesses in place nice and tight so I could not slide it out. I ended up spending hours lying with my head on the brake pedal cutting tape with a razor blade. It is heaps easier to remove now, but I'm lazy.
