time has come to say goodbye

As some of you know i recently discovered my engine was shot with bad compression. Over the past few weeks i started to realize that even replacing the engine was a gamble i didnt want to take which is a shame because i do really like the car. I just didnt want to spend 4k for a reman and then in a year be spending it again or have issues during the install, etc.

Over this past weekend i test drove and instantly fell in love with a 2008 G37 S coupe. At 17k with a tanabe exhaust, eibach springs, dual CAIs (curently unknown brand), full service history, and 80k miles i felt this car was an absolute steal. It met every check mark in my book just like the RX8 did while most importantly having 4 seats and keeping me in the jap import tuner world. I love bmw/audi, have an A4 DD but theres just something about jap imports that feels right for me and modding. For a guy like me, and most of you im sure this car is completely turnkey.

The ******* beat the **** out of me on the trade in though at 2500. Granted it is a 2004 with 127k miles, but it still had all the new crap ive done over the last year and was immaculate inside. At that price i dont have any qualms about withholding the engine compression test results especially considering they offered me 3500 just 7 months ago and when i honestly had no idea about the engine issues. Also this is my third car from this dealer and salesman, they really could have stepped up a little more and it was only the mods installed adding that extra perceived value that made me not care about the lack of love from them.

So in closing i most certainly am shedding a tear at losing my RX8 there is plenty of blood and sweat all over that car from me, but alas that tear will blow away with the hammer down and the windows wide open in the G37.

Sorry about the issues you have with the rx8, but good luck anyway with the new ride.

When I traded my miata in, they originally offered me $500 for it. I told them that it was frankly insulting to offer me such a stupidly low number, as it was nothing more than a waste of my time (could scrap the car and get more money for it). They tossed more bullshit my way, but finally got them to give me a realistic number. I would have done the same and not mentioned the compression had they treated me as such.

I'm sorry that your RX8 experience was not better, and I wish you all of the best with your new car. I hope you as you move forward you remember the positive aspect of your time driving the RX8 and not just the negative ones.
