Oil usage

Does anyone know anything about the manual requiring the addition of a quart of oil every 750 miles?

That amount seems a bit high. I'm at 2,800 & used about 1.3 qts. total so far for topping-off.

Just check it about every 500 miles (about every other fill-up) & add to the full line. Don't over-fill by much, if any.

Yes, this does seem a little high. How many miles do you have on your car? If this was your first 750 miles, maybe the oil was not totally full to start with.

I don't have one but a friend just got one and he told me he was told to add a quart of oil every 750 miles. What is the recommended interval - 3000 miles?

There is no recommended interval (neither 750 nor 3000 miles). The recommendation is to check the oil level with the dipstick regularly, and add oil when the level drops. Depending on how you drive and your particular car, that could mean adding oil every 1200 miles, or every 3500 miles, or... it depends. If someone just blindly adds a quart of oil every 750 miles, by 2250 miles their engine will quit because it's over-filled!

Regards,
Gordon

My car came over-filled from the dealership...looked like by maybe 1/4 of a quart.

I have 630 miles on there now and the oil is just barely past the "full" part of the dipstick.

I'm in the same boat as Zeqs. I'm at about 700 miles and just checked it for the first time last weekend. It's still at full.
