I'm interested in possibly obtaining an RX8, help me out.
Ok so after seeing a certain black rx8 driving around my town I loved how aggressive it looked and I'm thinking about getting one. I miss rear wheel drive since I sold my Trans Am a few years ago. I have some questions though.
What is the difference between the model years. I don't like look of the brand new ones, I'm learning more towards going for a 2005 or 6 model.
How many different colors do the interiors come in? I'm hoping to find an all black interior. Wondering what the chances are.
Reliability? Upkeep costs compared to other cars? This will be used for normal driving, no engine modifications, no racing.
What should I look for in a used rx8? Any hidden surprises to look out for?
My biggest question. I think the best looking RX8 is the mazdaspeed. The front bumper is so mean and sexy. Here's what I'm wondering. Do I have to find a mazdaspeed rx8, or can I buy the bumper/skirts from a dealer? Googling "mazdaspeed rx8 bumper" just links me to shitty duraflex knockoffs that will undoubtably fit like garbage. Or is the mazdaspeed kind of like the Scion's "Release Series" where if you want the Release Series grill (or in this case the mazdaspeed bumper) you have to supply a VIN and pay out the ***.
Thanks!

As with all used RX-8's get a compression test done to check out the engine.
Mazdaspeed does sell authentic parts but they are expensive and hard to find. There are some other great kits out there though so look around.
I would suggest you hang around the forums and search and read up a ton of information from here before you buy. Much to be learned and even more fun to be had after you end up purchasing.
Good luck!

I read the beginners guide thread and it seems like there's a lot of potential for failure in these cars, mostly stemming from poor routine maintenance, which is gonna be trouble when buying used as you don't really know how the previous owner cared for it. Also sounds like I should be aiming towards finding an 08 model.

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
Just keep in mind...its better to get the newer ones because it will have a few more years of warranty left in it and get a low mileage car too, just to be on the safe side of it.

cant go wrong with a 08 if you like the older bodystyle, engine warranty until 2016.
in NJ, i bought both my rx8's from these guys, competitive internet prices, but they dont like to budge. They specialize in rare and unique sports cars. When i bought my first rx8 they had 2 special edition Nismo 350z's, some VWR32's,2superbee chargers,1 R3. The used car manager owns a supercharged nsx
