Why is this sign always on? HELP!

After the I brought my car to the workshop and was charge hundreds of $$ to just deflood the engine, then it became like that. And today, when I pulled the gear to R then the car just went dead. Really don't know what happened.

Also, you're EXACTLY the type of car driver who SHOULD PULL OUT THE OWNERS MANUAL AND READ WHAT ALL THOSE SYMBOLS ON THE DASH MIGHT MEAN WHEN ONE LIGHTS UP!!!!!
If you don't own an owners manual, here's a link to a 2005 RX-8 owners manual right from Mazda's website:
https://www.mymazda.com/MusaWeb/pdf/...2005RX-8OM.pdf
You need to go straight to page 131 and start reading.
Your specific light is written about on page 135.
Honestly, you probably need to read the whole thing.
Have you never owned a car before?

I know what you are getting at here, and I agree. However, "I put it into R and it just died" would suggest that probably unconnected to the flooding/deflooding, there is a reverse switch short. No mention on if the OP restarted it immediately (Which would rule it out) or not (which keeps it in)
I'm reminded of a few weeks ago, our roommate came home and asked me: "Can you show me how to check my oil? When I went to get the battery replaced, the guy told me that it didn't have any."
