Driving lights?
I've been looking at these Hella micro xenon driving lights
http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...o_de_xenon.jsp
anyone put extra lighting on their cars? I remember it made a world of difference when driving at night on out of city highways and I can see 100s of feet farther and maybe aim them to the side to see around corners while driving fast at night.
wonder if I could swap out the factory fog lights and put these in and wire them so it turns on with highbeam?
or leave the foglights and add the extra set (might block radiator? or look weird with 4 lights in the bumper?)
thoughts/comments?

You can't see far enough with the oem lights?
Matbe somehow add them to the upper left & right corners of the center grille, where it's not really a grille anyway.
edit: ROFLOL!!!!! The next two posts (at least) are a riot! Youz guys!...

I've got ships at sea calling and asking me to turn mine down. I can't imagine seeing any further without burning out an oncoming driver's rods and cones.

but I hear they aren't good for peripheral vision?
anyways... well it's not like I'm complaining they're so dim I can't see corners coming up fast enough, it's just that it COULD be better (ask any le mans or rally or offroad driver what a difference an extra light pod makes at night)
hmmm or oh well I guess I'll just use highbeams for now then

This car has the best lights of any car I have ever driven. On low beam, the wide profile with sharply cut off top of the beam is superb, and on high beam, it is like looking out on a lighted football field from the end zone.
More could still be better, I agree. Don't let us dissuade you, put them on and show us some pics!

Check out the "fog light rewire" post in the tech garage. It's everything and more you need to know about making your fog lights in to driving lights independent of the headlights.

Driving with night vision is impossible.....if you are traveling at 140mph and a car starts to come at you, the lights will blind you through the night vision and you WILL crash :-(

And yes, the stock lights are quite good, but my last car was a European-spec grey market car with stock driving lights that put the RX-8's to shame. My brother-in-law drove that car and commented that the high beams were "like Giants Stadium."

To make the most of what you have you may want to consider swapping your H11 fogs with H9 Bulbs. I've written a How-To in the DIY forum.
I made a noticable difference.
