Compression Test

What's a good compression test look like?
I'm going to look at an 04 and I'm going to run a compression test to see if the engine's any good.

Also, would the dealership be willing to extend the warranty on the engine since it's an 04? It's a mazda dealership.

It looks like a 2x3 table with numbers in each box. 1 column per rotor and 3 rows, one per rotor face.

Wow you're lazy. I hope no one answers your question. It's one thing to ask, it's another to flaunt your laziness.

OP, I'd usually answer questions, even ones easily found by searching, but I didn't like your response, so this is what I'm giving you instead:

RX-8 Club has tons of information on hand. And I mean tons. Literally. Add up the weight of everyone's brain, and it will be several tons. Sorry, I know that was bad.

Collectively, we know more than any one dealership, tech, repair shop, or spec manual. However, as usual, the information doesn't all sit in one place, it doesn't sit in one head, and we have our idiots, our morons, our ********, our kids, our jerks, and our literary incompetents. Just like any forum. Fortunately, we have relatively fewer of those than most other car communities out there. But they still exist.

We also have a Search button, and a Search function for the board, but it isn't very good. It removes words that it sees as common or too short, but are a critical part of the search. It doesn't allow for search by relevancy, as in real relevancy. You mostly have to do alot of hunting and pecking in the search results to come up with what you might be looking for.

Add the two above issues together, and you can easily take all day to find only bad information.

But I have good news! You can improve your results and search speed by up to 15% by switching to Google!

As in Google.com.

Go to Google.com, and in the search box, type: site:rx8club.com
Then a space.
Then start typing what you are looking for.

Like this:
RX8Club.com search via Google

Your Google search results will be ONLY from this forum, and it will use all the power and intelligence of the best search engine in the world.

I still use that function nearly every day between RX8Club.com, Miata.net, and Mazdas247.com. So if you have a question that you think is common, give that search method a try, sit back with your beverage of choice and start reading

Additional Google Search tip:
If you are trying to search within a specific thread for information threads that turn out to be very long, add the name of the thread to your search in quotes. This will not restrict the search to just that thread, however the results from that thread will be bias'ed towards the top of the Google search results, and usually be the first results.

Sure, and you're just worthless so refrain from posting on my thread.

Anyways, I have this compression chart, I guess my next question would be does anyone know when the dealership runs this test what cranking speed they use?

I appreciate the people in this thread that are actually helpful.

Really not in the mood to be dealing with people that disregard my questions and suggest me "searching" I have already done that, and it's just a waste of time and completely disrespectful.

You apparently don't understand that it's completely disrespectful of YOU to post as you have.

Sorry, but if you want it, you have to give it. Don't give it, and well, don't be shocked at not getting it.

My post was aimed to help you. Search truly is your friend. Getting results on this forum requires at least some input on your part. Anything you can think of asking about the RX-8 has likely been asked in the 8 years this site has been in existence. There are "sticky" threads in the various subforums for a reason, use them.

Had you taken a second to look rather than start a meaningless thread you could have saved yourself time and cool points.

Happy rotoring.

Here, ill help you further along: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...n+test+results

People that claim they searched, but clearly didn't, generally are the people that end up crapping on the forums expecting handouts and whining when they don't get it, and those of us that see it day in an day out again and again and again take offense to it.

No, it's not disrespectful. I posted a thread on this website, hoping to receive an answer to a question I have. Instead of answering my question, people neglect it and tell me to search, even though I had already done that before posting. What do you want me to "give"? If you don't have an answer to my question then just leave it at that. Don't post on my thread telling me to do stuff I've already done. Anyways, you're getting off topic and I'm just looking for a simple answer to my question.

And look at the time you've managed to waste, yourself. Instead of answering my question you argue about searching.

Based on the results of others, I'm guessing 200. If anyone knows any different it would be nice to know

Time is not the issue. We argue about searching because we want people to get good, honest, accurate information. We want people to educate themselves and make informed decisions. Even if someone did answer your question, how would you know the information was correct? You wouldn't, you would still have to search to insure the info you are getting is correct. In time you may learn who is knowledgeable and who is not but even people in the know are wrong at times so searching is always key.

But, my guess is that you just want quick answers and will never really contribute to the forum anyway so why should we bother spoon feeding you?

Gee, If I wanted to know what a factory repair or diagnostic procedure, where would I look?

Why would someone post false information about a compression test? If they did know what they were talking about, and had reasonable numbers I could verify, I would trust their answer.

Are you saying no one should be helped if they aren't capable of helping back? So people who don't know anything about cars that browse these forums aren't worthy of answers they have to their questions?

People post erroneous stuff all the time. Some by accident, some on purpose, some for unknown reasons. I don't know why, but it happens all the time. Not to mention, a lot of the times there is no one right answer.

If they don't know something and they take to the time to learn it on their own, then they will give back and help others eventually. And no, if they are just expecting to ask questions and have them answered then they are not worthy.

This is a discussion forum, a community, not a question/answer board.

But obviously my posts are falling on deaf ears (eyes), so good luck man.

All compression tests are done at the cranking speed your starter will provide

Results are normalized to 250RPM....

I figured I'd post here since you guys seem to know more than a dealership, but apparently not. I guess I'm just going to have to rely on the dealership itself.

Obviously.

No you're worthless because you are cluttering up the forum with a useless thread. This information has been posted. Search. Useless threads will bring the quality of the forums down and make it harder for others to do searches in the future.
