AC smells like a mix of oil

All of a sudden when I turn on my AC, it smells like there is a little mixture of oil and cold AC blowing from the vents. I can smell it stains the smell onto the car for about 10 or so minutes. Could it be possibly that oil is leaking out onto somewhere such as the spark plugs which is causing it to leak into the AC blower coming inside the car?

Only reason I asked that was I have a 90 accord winter beater and oil had leaked and was clogged with oil. When turning on the AC or heat, it would smell like oil very strong.

I have not yet checked the spark plugs to see if there is any oil that might have gotten into the spark plug chamber.

Any thoughts?

I can't imagine oil being on the spark plugs causing this issue, as the location of them are..a little different than your 90 accord.

I can't really tell you why it's smelling, though, sorry.

try cleanin your cabin filters, theyre located behind your glove box and the passenger side...just pop off your glove box and youll see two white panels on the right side, take em out and check em

I had a similar problem with my '99 Passat. Clogged PCV system pushed oil out the VCG and cam seals. It would drip down the back-passenger side of the engine onto the exhaust and cat. Strong oil burning smell with vent blower on when stationary but not when moving.

Did you spill any oil with the last top-off?

+1 to this... betting that's whats happening. Had my oil changed abour a week or so ago and they spilled some while filling and now i have this wonderful oil smell when i am stationary but when i am driving, it's gone. They told me when they did it, i might smell a little bit of oil burn smell until its all burned off.

I checked and do not see any leaks anywhere. Mine just smells when stationary or driving. I will have to double check again to see if I can see any leaks anywhere else.

No spilled oil on my last top-off.

Thanks for the inputs. Will post when I find what was causing it.
