ON FINALLY got my 8, problems already :(

Ok, so here's the whole, long, crappy story. I looked at an 8 in Burlinton. Test drove it, looked at it, liked it etc. Put a down payment on it, and said I'd buy it, assuming my mechanic could look at it, and there were no problems. Thats fine and dandy. So I'm debateing between scarborough Mazda, Stratford Mazda (where I'm from) or London Mazda (where I live) Tell the salesmen, he says thats fine, get an appointment and let me know. So I get one for Tuesday March 3rd at Stratford Mazda. Tell the guy, he says ok. Calls me the day before the appointment and complains about how far away it is, and they can't take it to any of the three I want, and "how about burlington Mazda, it's just around the corner." Well I know nothign about Burlington Mazda, and I'm more afraid of him knowing the mechanic there, and just getting him to say the car is in good shape. So instead I book it into Oakville Mazda, (for the same day and time as my stratford appointment funny enough) I tell them, I want a mechanical inspection done, check everything see what it needs to safety, test drive it, do a clutch test etc. Also not to talk to the burlington dealer about what it needs/doesnt, and explained because if it needed alot, or the clutch was bad, I wasn't going to buy the car. So the service guy says ok yea thats fine. They do whatever to the car take it back to the burlington dealer, and the burlington dealer calls me, and tells me they said the car was good, brakes are kinda iffy, but the car itself is in great shape. So I'm kinda ticked they told the dealer anything, but hey, nothing terrible wrong, so it's ok, but I descide I better call Oakville and find out myself. So I call, and they tell me, "we didn't drive the car because we didnt think it needed it" and "we can't test the clutch because the only way to do that is to unmate it from the transmission." So at this point im Pissed, but what can I do about it.

So Burlington says I can pick up the car on Thursday, that it only needs brakes and tires for safety. I show up Thursday at 5 like they told me, and they tell me, I can't have the car because after they got it done and took for a drive, it was misfiring badly, and they're gonna take it to burlington mazda to fix it, on Friday. So now im REALLY pissed. Oakville didn't do what I asked, didn't catch the problem, and now I've drove to Burlington (2 hours one way) for no reason. I remain calm, and don't let the sales manager or salesmen know how upset I am. They call me the next day saying it needed new coils, so they 4 new coils in ( i was hopeing for new plugs and wires as well, but meh) So I can pick the car up Saturday morning. Saturday morning I show up again, to pick up my car. I got there at 10:15, and am told, about an hour earlier, they took it to clean it again, since it had been to burlington mazda, and on the way back, they heard a "thumping" noise coming from the front driver side brake, so they're looking at it now, it won't be long.

They ended up putting on new brake pads, all the way around, again, because they thoguht the front pad wasn't fitting right, and were afraid it might happen to them all eventually. Test drove it, same problem. Then the descide it's the caliper, so they tighten that, drive it again, same problem. They then descide it's the caliper bracket, so they pull one off of the other 8's put it on my car, and problem fixed! By the time I leave the dealership, it's 2 30 pm. I had sat there for over 4 hours, plus drove there for no reason on Thursday. What do they do for me? I get a free tank of gas (even tho, I just gave them 17 000$, and theres a 35.00$ fuel charge on the bill)

By that time, I'm SO PISSED, I only want out of there. They appologize, like they should, and I understand it's not the salesmens fault, but still, I was ready to start breakin some knee caps.

On the bright side, the noise came back today

So now that my rant is over (sorry it was so long) What I ended up buying was an 05 GT, VR 6MT, with red/black leather interior. It was 14 900$ with 74000 km. Theres one small scratch on the rear fender and the defrost button is split. Other than that, I can only complain about fuel milleage, and insurance prices, but i knew those before I bought her.

On the other bright side, you technically got a new car
They changed all the pads, the coils, the caliper, and a full tank of gas
Well atleast you got your car and ready to drive the crap out of it, I remember when I got my rx-8 (February 21st!) the gas tank was empty... but everything was perfect and now it's running real good.

Once I premix the car, it'll be even better!

I actually didn't get a new caliper, I got a caliper bracket, off another 8, that didn't fix whatever problem I have.

The noise is probably the result of a not quite flat/smooth disk up front. It's what happens when the car is driven with heavily worn pads. You can either get the disk machined down or replace the disk.

Congrats on buying an 8, but shitty on the headaches so far. Personally I would have told them to *** themselves and gone else where after all that. U should have a guarantee of so many days or something. If I were you I would take it back get your money back and go buy another one else where. See if Scarb Mazda has one for sale. They should have thrown in new plugs as well if they did the coils, cause your plugs are prob. plugged up. As for the noise, could also be a ball bearing joint, had that happen on my old car, mainly noticed it when I turned tho. Expensive fix. Hope it works out for you!

I have a 7 day warranty from the dealership, and the car still has factory warranty until the end of June. The noise is a flapping/clapping noise, and only when i brake with moderate force. I'm going to call them today, see what they plan to do about it.

The noise is probably the front brake rotor. It probably has rust on it from sitting for so long. If you want to bring the car by I will look at it with you!
