MAY 3rd, 2013 EDIT: I AM HOPING TO ARRANGE FOR A MEET WHEN THE WEATHER ALL CLEARS UP FOR GOOD, AND ESSENTIALLY WHEN MY CAR IS RUNNING AGAIN. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE SOONER THAN LATER, BUT I AM SHOOTING FOR EARLY SUMMER, AROUND JUNE/JULY.

Seeing as those damn Ontario folk get to have their meet, I figured that AB/SK should put together one! (Once the snow decides to screw off....) I have yet to meet anyone in the area officially, and I think it would be great if we could get a few of us together for some good times.

As this idea is pretty fresh, I am open to suggestions on all of the following:

Date/Time
Location
Events (Cruise, etc)


Once we have some solid ideas down and come to some conclusions, I will make a thread which includes all info about the event, and begin marking down those who are dedicated to coming. I have this open to AB and SK, as it would be nice to get both together, but if just AB or SK wish to have a meet, that is fine as well (I am from SK, living in AB!)


Looking forward to meeting with some locals!

Sounds like something we could do. Once you get a location and such put out the word, I am sure you would have a good responce. If you are having it in Alberta why not include BC also? Just a thought as Alberta is in the middle of both.

Great suggestion on the BC thing, I will include them as well. Originally I thought they have their Meers already but it would be good to get them involved as well. With all 3 western provinces involved I think we can make an AB meet work, middle section as you said

The only other suggestion I may have is have the meet somewhere which has some decent roads with curves in them but not too far away from good eats and accomadations.

That is my best reason why Saskatchewan should never host one of these meets. lol

Well it depends where people are willing to meet. Initially I was thinking Banff would be great (or the area, such as Kananaskis), but places like Edmonton/Calgary are much more accessible to people who aren't familiar with areas / don't want to travel as far

Just an update - Had started planning event when my car decided that it will no longer run (possible engine rebuild, pcm replacement, etc)

Besides, we're getting more snow right aways :P But if I get this up and running soon (Should, ripping it apart as we/I speak), then we will have this meet!

Yea, sounds like a plan. Hopefully this snow will let up sometime this year haha I live in Grande Prairie so I will end up traveling no matter what. However, it's an RX-8 who doesn't like to drive with em eh?

Poor Sask still has all that snow too. Maybe Winter will decided to F off one day for you guys. However in Alberta......this weekend is look like +18 - +22 :D
Going to wash my baby inside and out and drive with the windows down and the sunroof open :D

Ontario may have more 8's but you guys really have the better place! Banff would be an awesome place for a meet... will drive my 8 out there one day. Wouldn't you have to pay the park fees to have a meet there though?

If/when you do get a meet off the ground, be sure to do a roll-call (either before or after). I'm always generally interested to know who gets out to these events, seeing a list of names kind of makes it seem like the group is more together, here on the forums.

And I have to say, you guys have it made: having that kind of a drive just to get to a meet, talk about lucky! :D

Sorry for not keeping up on this thread guys, so here's some responses!


Agreed! My 8 is in the process of being repaired in SK while I am in AB.. didn't have the patience to wait until I could get out and fix it myself so made a list for someone else to do

Banff you technically should be paying fee's, yes, but my girlfriend and I went there once and our plan was to just say we were driving through, but I totally missed the toll booth, drove right through on accident and nothing came of it

There will be an official thread created, hopefully sooner than later for a summer meet. When that happens, there will be all information needed, such as locations, times, etc., as well as a roll call list.

And yes, this should be a great time when it happens!

I know guy... it's jokes the way you said it. hehehe sad part is I think after a week you started this post, I heard the news that Alberta and Manitoba province got hit by snowstorms in major cities.
