Re-Install Stock Cat before RECALL???

Is it necessary/wise/advised to re-install the stock cat before taking the 8 in for the recall? I have the RP high flow cat on now. I did read that it was not necessary to re-install the OEM intake (I have RB) or CatBack Exhaust (also RB) before taking the car in for the recall.

A few dealer service managers might make it an issue (excuse).

How has you dealer been on other gripes?

you don't need to take off any of your aftermarket parts for this recall. Have you ever experienced power loss in your car? If you have not, they won't even test drive your car, just reflash it, check the leading spark plug, inspect the cat (they'll just skip it on yours) and send you on your merry way.

Hey, why don't you call your service department and ask, before going through the hassle to install the stock cat back on...or before driving all the way down there just to get turned away.

I have been experiencing powerloss. Now does that mean I should re-install the stock Cat?

I just got off the phone with a Mazda Service Tech and asked the question. "YES, re-install the stock cat before taking it in for the recall". I asked why he makes that statement and he stated, " Mazda can deny repair or replacement of a part if it is not OEM". He also stated that another person had the same question and he told him it would be in his best interest to re-install the stock cat.

mazda can deny repair or replacement of the part but since your aftermarket CAT is probably NOT the reason for your powerless, I'd leave it on there and go in for the recall.

Just tell them to stay away from the CAT and do the rest of their work as they normally would have.
