I was back a ways from the road, the camera made it look a lot closer, even if that car did an emergency stop, they wouldn't have stopped in front of me by the time I'd decided to go.. its all good :eyetwitch

I did consider using gum :uhh: to stabalize it mcGuyver style .. for about 1 second ..

Thats what I was thinking of going for.. or a PVC mount that mounts to the passenger seat... in the end tho, I found an official suction cup camera mount that screws into the cam, so it shouldn't shift anymore.. i will be able to film from the back window to get the shifts, or the front windows for nothing but road (better for a cruise)..

they do make camera mounts for track use as well. I've seen them advertised in Grassroots Motorsports. I mention it because you've talked about doing some track stuff.

yeah, I ran into those, most of the track use ones basically clamp to your roll cage, which I won't get (adds too much weight) ..

The windshield suction cup thing will work, the suction isn't the problem, it was my using a string to tie the camera to a gps mount, the camera shifted in the string.. so a screw-in mount suction cup will do the job I think.. I'm gonna find out :)

I know there are other ones that work on the track without the roll cage. PM devildog1679 for info on the one he used. He was using it at a track day at autobahn back in May. I also have a friend with a M3 that has a mount. If you'd like, I can contact him to get the info on it. I know neither one of them have roll cages.

you can get a dot approved helmet for around 20-30 new at mijer. thats where i got mine for my bike

At one time there was some question about what would happen if a cars air bag went off. The speculation was that it might do damage to the vertebrae in the neck. I never heard the outcome of that discussion. I can see the need for a full face helmet on a motorcycle (I have gone down on a bike) and open cockpit race cars. When you are surrounded by metal and belted in, I think an open face will suffice.

It is a BBQ, but the grills seem to be lacking in quantity, so if you want to bring yours again they will probably appreciate it.

Depends on the time of year, but the answer is yes for the most part. Well, I guess that actually depends on your definition of "pretty often"

This year we had meets or an event about twice a month from March through September. After that it dropped down slightly and now for Dec-Feb we don't have specific dates set for things yet. The winter months are typically random meets when someone says "Hey let's have a meet!" Most of the time people will show up, so if you are still looking to get out, say it and people will probably join! If you don't want to say it, which some people don't, pm me. We can work out a time that you think you would probably be able to make it and then I'll post it. :)

When I got home, from the Friday run, I discovered one of my rear tires resembled something like a racing slick. Since these are all-season tires and I planned on using them this winter, this is not good. New Continentals are to be installed tomorrow.

two weeks ago, I had one of my rear Khumos start to go on me as I was driving to work - I knew the tread was like you said "resembling a racing slick", but I was planning on replacing them over the winter and was trying to get a few more days out of them before i put my snows on - needless to say, I was able to limp home (never lost air) and put my snows on right away...
