I went in to the incentive system to see what the program officially states. At present time the College Rebate only applies to 2002 and 2003 vehicles. There has been no announcement concerning the incentives on 2004 vehicle and the RX-8 specifically. Once the incentives are posted for the RX-8, it will probably qualify. I've only seen one vehicle since I've been here that didn't qualify and that was the first day a new program came out and was only when it was financed a certain way. Mazda corrected it the next day.

For what its worth, and it's probably not much, my dealer confirmed the $400 rebate on the 8 - but I don't put much stock in what he says... we'll just have to see if/when the money changes hands.

I think I saw $400 somewhere official too.

It sucks that the graduate incentive expires in September, meaning your car must be DELIVERED by then to be eligible. Bastards. Mine won't be here by then, so I guess got my PhD this May for nothing.

ATTENTION:

I have already verified that the RX-8 *is* and will be a part of the College Grad Rebate program. This is verified further if you'd like, by calling Mazda directly.

You will get the $500 rebate if you meet the criteria listed on their site.

$500 and it will more than likely continue the next program period. I've been her 9yrs and we've always had the program.

If my son gets a PHD,I'll give him the $500. Seriously though, I've learned to never believe anything until I see it in writing as far as incentives, and as of today there is nothing in writing as far as any incentives on the RX-8.
