Hi,

I am trying to negotiate with a dealer. I told them that I was going to shop around and now they came back to me, saying that they can talk about the price. The dealer said that their invoice was $26K and they were going to sell it to me for $25,700. From what I found it, this is crap, because the invoice price is much lower.

When a guy called me today and he said that we can talk about the price more because those numbers were not final. This is a car that I want and I wondering what would be a good price for it. I am thinking about $24,900-$24,800 and then ask for Gerber rebate...

new I'm guessing...is it an 05 or a leftover 04?

05 or 04, BIG difference on price between the 2...

This is 05. My plan is to get the dealer to around 24,800 (24,600 would be a big plus) and then present the recent graduate and Gerber rebates. I belive that a delaer is not losing money on those. If so, I can get the car for mid-23K. Which is not bad :)

Dude get an 04. You can get those for over 4k under invoice NEW! I found a fully loaded black one in NJ for cheap if you want the information PM me.

The 04's left have first year depreciation built into them if you can find one you want that wasn't already driven quite a bit by the dealership folks. Yea, you do get the warrenty the same as new, but other than that you are buying a year old car by now. The 04 deals are really overblown on here becasue it is a year old car.

Zoom, your right, after four years the impact is not as bad, but still there. But how many have we seen on here crying about resale value when they are selling after a year or a little more. Many people do not understand even the basics of car buying. Pay MSRP and lose because I put little down payment on it???? Car dealers love that, yea, we can get you out of that car, add it to the new car price, forever in a hole. Not really telling you anything I'm sure but too many ive seen on here have no idea and should be told about it.

I calculated and it turns out that I can get a velocity red base '05 for about $23,900 if I apply all incentives. For example, I can get close to $24,900 and then do -$500 for a recent grad and then -$500 for Gerber. This seems to be a decent price to me. However, taxes suck...

After spending some time looking for used cars, I came to conclusion that buying a new one would be a better deal. I saw 2 used cars (one posted on this board) and they were pretty much the same in terms of money because of a higher interest rate on a used car when buying from a person. I think that $2K is worth it :)

I would spend the extra bux ($1,118 or so) and get a sports pack car, at least. HID headlights, stability control (very handy if you are not used to a RWD car), traction control, and fog lights. The best "deal" of any of the 3 packages, IMHO.

Get an 04 with the sports pack. The ones without that are to ghetto. I got mine for 22500. And from what i read there is no real diff between 04 or 05. :)
