When I lock my car using the remote the lights no longer flash. The car locks and unlock's O.K. and the horn will honk if I hit the lock button twice, just no lights.

I've done this before too.. drove around for a week with the trunk not fully latched.. hehe.. thank goodness for no rain in AZ :)
