Here's the story:
I call up 3 Mazda dealerships (local) to see about the car cover that Mazda produces for the Rx-8. Well, as most of you know these have been for sale (in multiple colors I might add) for months now via the dealers in the US. When I called for pricing on this item, they all informed me that Mazda doesn't make a cover for this car. I told them all "Yes they do!" so one of them actually checked in the computer and there is nothing in the computer for the cover.

Man, I can't beleive this *CRAP* I mean I know Canada was behind a few weeks for recalls and stuff, but this is ridiiculous. Now, if I want one I have to order from the states.

COME ON MAZDA CANADA, WAKE UP!

hi.

I ordered from Mazda the car cover for my 8 made by Wolf. Excellent quality!

Cost was $180 CDN.

I really like it!

Hope this help.

I heard it wasn't an official Mazda product.

It's not an official Mazda product. But very good quality.

How's the fit on the Wolf unit? What type of materials is it?
I also have to make sure it fits over the stock spoiler.

Not the same, but they don't make a cargo net for my lude in Canada, yet it's available in the States. This is for an 8 year old car too so there's a good chance they'll never offer it.

I figured that might not offer it after I made the phone calls. But it's just makes no sense from a marketing standpoint when any dealer in the states can "order it", how much harder is it to ship it to Canada through the dealership? (Meaning that the dealership has it shipped here and it's in stock at Canadian prices). Plus the dealerships make a killing on all the accessories for any car more so then the actual sale of the car itself.

Oh well, I guess it's off to give some American dealership my business.

Yep, I ordered my car cover from Trussville. It's nice and does fit over the stock spoiler though it is a litle tight. I hope that helps.

Just so the RX-8 club member know, your local Mazda dealers can only order from Mazda Canada Inc. what is available in OUR Canadian parts catalogue. If MCI has chose not to offer the cover then Canadian dealers do not have access to it. The only was we could purchase one is just like you through a US dealer.

Thanks for the heads up #84Racing. I do know (now) that Mazda Canada doesn't offer the cover as they do in the states, but from a consumers point of view, it's weird how Mazda Canada won't have things in there catalogue that have a huge potential for mark up and marketability. You figure Mazda Canada/Mazda North America would be relatively the same seeing as they all have to order most stuff from overseas.... Oh well...
