My love affair with Eleanor (dont tell my wife!)

I have been getting Mustang fever again with the fifth gens coming out soon. So I have been doing alot more stang reading and research lately. Although it has been a few years since Ive seen her, Eleanor came back into my life when I caught a picture of her in a new Mustang mag I got...So stupid how some cars make you feel. I dream of putting this in my garage one day. Thought I would share my love for a real work of art IMO. I know alot of people on here hate Fords and Mustangs but you cant deny a sports car that has been in production for 40 years straight.

I love Mustangs. My friend has a 1969 Mach 1, and I have to say it's pretty sweet. It seems that everyone loves Eleanor. From the looks of the picture, it's too much show. Nevertheless, I'm sure this thing pwns all other Mustangs.

Elanoear looked cool in the movie because of the way it was filmed...but in real life it was kind of dissapointing. Domestic rice (although much better) came to my mind....Flame suit Activate!

I'll take a stock or "slightly" modified one.

Was watching the show 'Rides' a couple of weeks ago. The segment was devoted to a company in Texas that started 3 years ago, just to make more Eleanor's.

They buy the right body Mustang in any condition, take what's good & trash the rest.

They make different horsepower versions -- I'd love to have one.

Here's the link to that shop. They're called Unique Performance and they have a couple of different models to choose from. But get this: since they only use the original Ford fastback frames and bodies, once the car is built, they get an original Ford VIN number and are registered with the Shelby Registry. This makes the car an "original" Shelby automobile. So, along with the amazing performance, you get the cachet of having an original Ford/Shelby VIN and registration number.

Check out the website...it's amazing what these guys make out of a 30 year-old chassis and body! If I had the $129,000 for one...make it the G.T.500E with the Performance Package. That's a muscle car! :D

I'm wondering why a person wouldn't just go to Sanderson Sales, the authorized Shelby dealership. All "eleanors" are official Shelbys, built by the CS company. Those are nice cars, but I would want them to get rid of the 2 big lights on the front grill. Other than that it is a beautiful car. The top of the line car is just SICK ! 750 hp w/o the nitrous.

Now if I can only convince my wife that 80 Gs is THAT much money! I dont think she'll buy it though. Also, Eleanor was created for the movie. They took a 67 GT500 and added a few things to the allready beefed up Shelby body. As for the Super Snake, only one "original" was ever built. It got Shelby's aluminum 427 engine and some GT40 components to make it the baddest Stang around. After production the cost per unit would have been @ $7500 (which was about the price of a Cobra roadster in that day). I have the original bill of sale for my 68 and it was only $2,200! So no more were built till Sanderson, Unique, and Shelby got together after the 60 seconds sucsess to create more Eleanors and Super Snakes. I cant imagine what its like to put the hammer down in that car. I guy I know has an original 68 GT500KR. For those of you who dont know, it came with a tuned 428CJ engine. That car was sick. But it didnt have 750 horses like the SS. Pure American muscle at its finest.
