View Full Version : Preorder Gifts- can I still get them?

My dealer ordered my car, but NOT as a preorder! I am upset as I may not get the gifts. I wrote Mazda the following email but they have not responded. Any idea how I can get mt status changed to a preorder so I get my goodies?

Email sent last week:

Dear Ashley,

Thanks for help on my prior inquiries. *It seems that Tomsic has my car
ordered but you do not have it listed under the pre-order program.

I learned at www.rx8forum.com that pre-order customers will be
receiving gifts! *Part of the thread is posted below. *I thought I
would be considered a pre-order customer (I was first on the waiting
list THREE YEARS AGO when the RX-Evolv was shown in Tokyo) and I placed
my order within the pre-order time-frame. *I am a rotary nut and
longtime Mazda customer, I would be really unhappy to be left out of
the preorder gifts when I did not do anything wrong. *Is there anything
you can do to help me? *

Thanks

Don

Zoom44 and I have the same problem- it sounds like if, after you take delivery, your dealer calls Mazda and requests it, you'll still get your gifts. I didn't get to talk to my dealer for any amount of time today, but I'm going to try again this week, and that's one of the questions I've got. I want my little personalized model RX-8!

I hope Mazda decides to give us a nice little iPod for a free gift :)

By the way, I had the same problem as Elara and zoom.... I emailed Mazda and I'm waiting on a reply from them.

Forget the iPod. How 'bout each pre-order owner gets their own choice forced induction bolt on kit?

Sounds good to me.

hi Don. i would suggest making sure your dealer is well aware of the situation now and that you want your gift. it maybe too late to work it out when your car arrives. here is what mazda said to me on the matter, note that i am no longer editing out people's names- they screwed up and i am not protecting them any more:

"We have spoken with Dan at Herzog Mieier today. He has advised that an
order has been placed for an RX-8 for you. This order has been placed
as another type of dealership allocation and Dan has advised that he
will continue to be a contact point for you regarding this order. We
have assured Dan that, although you are not part of the Pre-Order
program, we can issue you the free gift that the participants will
receive. Upon delivery of thte vehicle, please arrange for Dan to
contact Mazda to request that this gift is sent to you. Please note
that ONLY after you take delivery of the vehicle can this be done."

like i said all of you make sure the arrangements are clear to everyone before you take delivery otherwise you might get screwed again.

Hey guys! I just got back from a 4-day weekend in Vegas ( :D ) so I'm a little out of the loop. I saw this thread and did a search to see what else I could come up with, but didn't find anything specifying what the gifts are. Can somebody clue me in? Do we know yet or is it speculation?

I'm sure that you guys want the model more than the real thing. Now if it was that rotor shaped keyring maybe... ;)

Purely speculation now. Unless you live in Germany or Japan :-)

How would I know if I'm part of the pre-order? I have a feeling asking my dealer is not going to help, but I'll try.

One thing, my dealer had an allocation, and he changed one of the cars in the allocation to be the one I wanted, and my name was assigned to the car.

Thanks.

erik from your description i would say you are not a Pre-Order as defined by mazda. your name and email had to be attached to the order for the car when that order was initially placed. have you received any emails form mazda? if not then no Pre-Order. even some of us who did the ordering on line part to get the ball rolling are not Pre-Orders because things were not input correctly the first time by the dealers.

as far as what the gift(s) is , there has been no announcement by mazda usa about what it is, unlike in some other countries, only a confirmation in emails to a couple of us that there will be a gift. there will be a chanceto ask the question "what are we getting as a gift?" in the near future. stay tuned ;)

I don't really care about the gift as much as I care about getting the car ASAP. According to my sheet the dealer gave me, my car was scheduled to be built starting the first week of May, and rx8orders said the car will be delivered between July and September (I'm obviously hoping July).

Thanks for the info, I'll stop into my dealership and bother them about it!! :)

Erik,
I believe you are in on the pre-order. My reason: my initial order had my name attached (on the dealer's inventory report, which I suspect is what you have) but not me email address, and I did not receive an email in the first batch. So I contacted rx8orders, had them talk to the dealer, the dealer learned how to attach my email address to my order (about 3 or 4 weeks after the 1st preorder deadline) and about 7 days later I got the first email. If your dealer has your name and email attached to one of his allocations, then I believe you are a pre-order. I don't believe that receipt of the email is a 100% determination of whether you are in the preorders or not. If you have the inventory report and it has your email address on it I think it's just a matter of time...

The UK incentive to pre-order was an entry into a competition to win a trip to Japan. Unfortunately they didn't send out the details of the competition (how many rotors does an RX-8 have, and write a tie-breaker) until March 6th, with the trip on March 17th. I didn't even enter as I was away on business on the 17th.

I was concerned that my dealer did not have estimated build or delivery dates on any of his pre orders since several folks here have been told their dealer's list had an estimated 'week of'. And it really didn't help when I got an email from Mazda telling me I could still go place an order for the RX-8!!

So I wrote RX8orders and received this comforting reply:

I did confirm that Brown's Mazda of Alexandria has placed an order for a 2004 Mazda RX-8 for you. As far as a confirmation e-mail, they are sent out in batches, so if you dealership did not input your e-mail properly to start it could be delayed. So please rest assured that your vehicle was part of the pre-order and you should receive a gift.
We have not yet determined what the gift may be once I hear I will e-mail you.

Since the gift for the Germans is an RX-8 watch and the Miata special edition came with his & hers watches and Mazda has issued 2 Rotary faced watches in the past, I bet we get a watch at least. RX8orders replied by saying there would be more than one gift for the US orders but it is not determined ATT.

I'm in the same situation. I found out that my "pre-order" was one of the dealer's allotted RX-8's coming into Ferman Mazda, Tampa, and not a pre-order sale. Hence the reason I was not recieving any correspondence from Mazda concerning my confirmation and all.

At first I was real disappointed, because I thought I would not qualify for any "pre-order" gifts. An e-mail to rx8orders confirmed that all I have to do is ask my dealer to contact them when my car comes in. My dealer said no problem - he'd call after I take delivery.

Another bonus - I thought I would be receiving the car late in the summer since I placed my order with the dealer on 1/20. After the first order cutoff date. My dealer said since my car is part of his first allotted, I should be receiving my car in his first batch, possibly by the end of May. Sweet! :D

I wonder how many Ferman ordered. My buddy got in on the same deal and his is red too. I think he got the cloth interior though.
See you when you get back to FL.

TJ,

I don't believe they got too many coming in on their first batch, but I'm not sure. I need to ask our dealor just for curiosity sake.

When my wife went to go order ours, they said mine was Car #2 or #3 of their "pre-order" (allotted) which somebody backed out since they didn't want the fully loaded red, with leather. Grand Touring with Nav. It was exactly what we wanted. Lucked out. :D

I'll look you up when I get back to Florida. I'll probably be out here in Qatar till fall.

Rotor,

Thank you, but I'm just a lowly contractor hired by the military to take care of their network. The true blessings go out to the troops forward that are doing all the hazardous dirty work. We need more Americans like you.

If you don't mind me asking which contractor do you work for? I did the overseas contract thing for 9 years with 3 different companies. I am wanting to get back into it. I am thinking of contacting a couple of my ex-employers to see what's out there. The tax-free money...

Thanks for the kind words. Military or not, anybody willing to travel to that region of the world during these times and spend time away from their family in support of our troops our nation deserves a "thank you" in my book....

TJ,

I'm hired by TDS, which is a small company subcontracted by the prime, BTG. My part of the contract is with Special Operations Command. I'm their systems engineer out here. Since I got out of the Air Force 8.5 years ago, I've worked for GTE (now General Dynamics), Technautics, EER Systems, and now TDS. That's life doing government contract work.

Plenty of work in the government sector. Work is long and hard, but overseas money is good. Plus it's tax free, at least the first $80k. ;) It's paying for my RX. :D

Send me a PM if you want to know more detail, etc. I'll give you some POC's.
