To late to preorder?

To late to preorder?
Hi guys, I guess I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've been waiting for 2 years for this car to come, and like the rest of you, I want it NOW! I didn't have the $1000 preorder fee last month to make a preorder, I do now however, but would it make more sense to just wait a couple of months and buy one off the lot? Why preorder at this point only to wait another 5 months? - At least, that's how long I was told it would take if I make a preorder "this late".
So I have a two part question, the first being; What do you think the odds are of getting a fully loaded ($33,300.00) rx-8 off the dealers lot without preordering? The second question is when can I expect to see these on dealer lots?
Thanks, and I hope these aren't redundant questions!

"pardon my curiosity but if you couldn't afford the 1k deposit how're going to afford the car?"
I think that’s a pretty silly question if you don't mind my saying so. I didn't know until last month that I would have to put that munch down for a preorder (I was expecting $500, if that), and it took me about a month to take out the funding. I have a savings account, but dedicated to other purposes. I don't think a months time is a bad turn over for coming up with a thousand dollars. Further more, my income is substantially high enough to afford 2 of these cars, so its not an issue of "affording" the car, just the short time span I had to pull the funds for a last minute preorder.
Being as how I'm right on the line, it seems more suitable to just wait instead of placing a preorder. Thanks for the feedback!

There’s one dealer told me they will be putting a $5000 dealer mark-up on the car when they arrived at the dealer, so at this time it’s a better choice to put an order. Moreover, it also depends on how many cars your local dealer is going to get. If they’re only getting two to three in the first couple months, then you pretty much have to go with what they got, and have to pay almost what’s the price on the window sticker. I believe they should be in the showrooms in the beginning of June, and for some dealers, you might still be able to pick up your car in early June if you order now.

i just wanna add that i preordered mine today, 4/18/03 for $500 and not $1000...i live in the US
the dealer had told me that many of the customers have preordered and paid up to $2000 over MSRP...he also said they may be getting their shipment as soon as the first half of May...

is it too late to pre order?
so bottom line is, if you want one soon, you're better off just going to dealership when they come out to see if they have extras...OR, go to the dealership soon and see if they have any extras coming in and reserve that one

It all depends on what's going on in the person's life. :p
