Exclamation serious advice needed stat!!!!

Please anyone i need advice, I made an appointment with my dealership five weeks in advance to have my transmission looked at becuase i was having the 1-2 shift problem that several of us seem to have. So when i took my rx-8 in the severice managers gave me an attitude saying it would be ready at 5 oclock that same day, so after he insisted i took his word for it. So the loaner car i got was a Daewoo Lanos wtf. So at five oclock i showed up to pick up my car and they told me that no one even started on my car yet. Oh yeah the dealership is 45 minutes from my house. and that all happened on a friday . the next day a callled talked to the mechanic assigned to my car and he said he would let me know the situation before he went home that day, he never called! on monday i called and the shop manager told me they had no-one qualified to work on my car, wtf, and they were walking through the disassembly of the tranny over the phone with MAZDA corp. Another day passes and they still hadnt got the tranny apart . a few days later i callled and they found the problem and order new gears syncros and shift forks. that was two weeks ago and supposedly the parts are still not in. And they refuse to let me drive my car while waitng for parts. what should i do i feel powerless please help

Welcome to Mazda Parts Purgatory... see this thread . I had to wait over two weeks for simple friggin' coolant hoses that had to be special ordered -- from Japan, apparently.

Mazda has a terrible shortage of common replacement parts for their cars, and the RX-8 in particular. Here is what will get the parts to you as quickly as possible:

1. Have your dealer place a "HOTLINE" order for the parts, if they have not done so already. Get the "ORDER NUMBER" from them.

2. With your car's VIN number and the order number above in hand, call Mazda's customer "service" (HAH!) number:
800 222-5500. Don't be surprised if the phone rings forever without being answered. It should be called Mazda's customer deflection department.

3. Tell the drone who answers that you are without your car, you want those parts traced and expedited, and don't let them off the phone until they give you an actual ETA date. Give them an earful about this being an ongoing problem. If they claim ignorance of it, they're lying through their teeth -- they've heard it from me and other people I know already.

4. If you financed your car with Mazda Credit, call them and complain as well. I had to do that just to get transferred to someone in Customer "Service" who actually would answer the phone.

Good luck!

A "hotline" order is placed by a Mazda dealership when a customer is unable to drive their car until the part is replaced. The dealer needs to give Mazda the car's VIN number at the time the hotline order is placed. It supposedly gets the part(s) to you quicker.

Just as an aside, of course they won't let you drive your car; you have no transmission. It takes a long time to take a tranny apart and put it back together again, and they aren't going to put it together just so you can drive it. Nope, it is sitting in pieces on a workbench in the garage somewhere in tatters, and it will stay that way until you parts come in. Best of Luck, and I feel for you. It is terrible parts management that causes delays like this. - H
