That audi is from 1991. jonnyb 04-03-2004, 02:26 PM was the paint job done in 91 too? MrRich 04-03-2004, 02:37 PM Ok Guys.It is not chrome. It's unpainted aluminium.Audi used it first on the Avus.Jaguar did the same thing. But I'm not sure about that Mercedes. Sin 04-09-2004, 05:09 PM I dunno...looks stupid. Xyntax 04-09-2004, 05:27 PM It actually saves weight to have no paint on :D That's how American Airlines saved millions of dollars when they saved fuel by reducing weight on their planes. Check out their "minimal paint" planes. I've always wondered why no car manufacturer sells chromed-out cars. My dad told me that it would be annoying for everyone because they will generate a lot of "Bling" that could blind everyone around them. Just try following a pickup truck with chrome bumpers and you'll know why it's an inconvenience to have someone drive around with chrome car. Not just unpainted aluminium either. Polished unpainted aluminium. I think it looks pretty cool! wakeech 04-10-2004, 01:27 AM Originally posted by Xyntax It actually saves weight to have no paint on :D the old myth about how Mercedes got it's nickname "the Silver Arrows" is that they had to strip the paint from their cars to make weight for a race in pre-war Europe. Oh you mean the AA story wasn't true either? Damn it! :p |
