That's how American Airlines saved millions of dollars when they saved fuel by reducing weight on their planes. Check out their "minimal paint" planes.
I've always wondered why no car manufacturer sells chromed-out cars. My dad told me that it would be annoying for everyone because they will generate a lot of "Bling" that could blind everyone around them. Just try following a pickup truck with chrome bumpers and you'll know why it's an inconvenience to have someone drive around with chrome car.
