So, I decided to check my oil today and to my surprise when I removed the dipstick, it was covered in what looked like whipped chocalate milk. Doesn't seem normal to me, but, wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. So, I put a quart of oil in and checked the dipstick again, it is hard to tell if there is oil in it or not so I don't want to keep putting in more oil if I am not supposed to. At the bottom of the dipstick the color if the fluid resembles dirty water not oil. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are some posts about condensation in the oil. From what I can gather it is normal. But, I've never had this problem so.....

Rumor has it that Mazda puts Nestles Chocolate mix in the 8 at the factory. It helps break in the motor better :p

Yes, that is common - there's everal threads about this. It's due to condensation in the engine case from short drives, where the oil and metal don't get hot enough to boil off the water that condenses. After a long drive, it will mostly disappear.

I disagree with the theory that the milky substance goes away after longer trips. Every time I've checked my oil level (at least 20 times so far in three months) it has had it, even after two spirited runs over 200 miles. I think it is there to stay....

I believe it has something to do with the cold weather. I've had my car since July and the "chocolate milk" just showed up about a month ago. I am hoping it goes away in the spring.
