View Full Version : MS Bumper from hell
Well where should I begin...........
I was looking for a bumper last fall and came across a guy selling a new never install MS OEM front bumper.
I bought it right before Christmas (paypal) and just received it last Friday (4 weeks form purchase date)
There was very little communication and was told that is was going to shipped many times over and over.
Look what I ended up will for $750. Its pretty isn't it????

I got a replica Ebay piece of shit that was advertise as OEM MS Front Bumper.... Not holes, no screens, no center insert, and I ton molding to get this thing to fit... When these pictures were take it was 35degree and look at the sagging -- imagine a90 degree day......I could actually bend the bumper in half. 750 got me this abortion.
My painter laugh when he saw it and I almost burnt it right in the driveway when talking to him...
NOW I'm trying to get my money back and of course I can't get in touch with this guy..... Paypal has been notified and I'm now going through the whole refund/return process but if I know this guy he will not comply (hasn't up to this point)
So guys i need advice while I wait this whole mess out. Are there any other ways to get a fast resolution to this?
dannobre 01-24-2010, 12:46 PM Did you use your CC on Paypal....easiest thing to do is get a refund from the CC if you did
Yeah i used a credit card (Visa). How would I get authorization to get the money back that way?
dannobre 01-24-2010, 12:49 PM Phone the CC company......Number is on the back of the card....
I guess I could try that but the transaction was 4 weeks ago so I hope that I can still file a claim this way.
rodjonathan 01-24-2010, 02:37 PM you should be able to with the cc company explain the situation say you need your money back
Yeah I've made the phones to the CC and this can be fixed in a number of days without affecting my paypal account.
What a pain in the ass
@!!narotordo 01-24-2010, 02:54 PM Dude that blows! the best ms front I have seen are from http://www.versusmotorsport.com/
faith&firepower 01-24-2010, 03:37 PM Sucks bro!
alnielsen 01-24-2010, 03:56 PM Dude that blows! the best ms front I have seen are from www.versusmotorsports.com (http://www.versusmotorsports.com)
Check your link. That URL sends to to a referral site that doesn't sell anything.
@!!narotordo 01-24-2010, 04:00 PM lol FAIL! but I fixed it now :)
If I wanted a replica I would have bought one from the beginning.
I want the real deal- and only the real deal. PEROID
05rex8 01-24-2010, 07:23 PM looks like it's urethane with how bad it sags...sucks man
one thing though...did you see pictures of this bumper before committing to buy?
@!!narotordo 01-24-2010, 07:37 PM ^Yeah pictures ftw. Sounds like the seller just wanted to dump it on someone else. Like they say; "If it sounds to good to be true, it is."
mscamp02 01-24-2010, 07:39 PM whats the link to the thread you bought it from? who was the guy and were there any pictures?
^Yeah pictures ftw. Sounds like the seller just wanted to dump it on someone else. Like they say; "If it sounds to good to be true, it is." After hearing the reason why he was selling it the price was fair. Oh and I live by that motto.
looks like it's urethane with how bad it sags...sucks man
one thing though...did you see pictures of this bumper before committing to buy?
That's another story all together and out of the like respect I still have for the seller I'm not going to get into that part. Put it this way if I saw what you guy's are seeing I wold have never bought this
whats the link to the thread you bought it from? who was the guy and were there any pictures?
The link had been edited when payment went through for the bumper. All info was deleted and replaced with "SOLD"
05rex8 01-24-2010, 07:55 PM well sounds like you didn't see pictures then...can't say that's really wise on your part to put that kind of cash down on something unseen
I still feel for ya, but lesson learned.
ahhhhhh yeah
I'm kicking my own ass
At this point until this is resolved the whole story would help all to see why I did what I did when buying
Here's the link
Look at the title because that is all that remains of the description of the bumper

Bigbacon 01-24-2010, 08:14 PM forget paypal and just get with the CC company and get it over with.
Then have a little bon fire with the ebay POS you got.
^ yep CC claim already in motion
RX8sd 01-24-2010, 08:18 PM :nono:.........:spank:....haha....just kiddin....we all make mistakes.
^ Please sir can i have another????
Symbioticgenius 01-24-2010, 10:35 PM Just to note for everyone reading here. A lot of Paypal \ Ebay Crap has been going on on these forums lately. Buyer Beware. While I know that in the interest of money we can choose to take the cheap route and buy used, but in most cases its not worth it. Buy from a known vendor so you don't have to go through this hassle.
P.S. I'm not getting on you Pico or any of the previous guys this has happened to. This warning is to all the guys thinking of doing something like that in the future. At some point I'm just gonna start pointing and Laughing.
dezau 01-24-2010, 10:38 PM damn... sorry for you pico, good luck with the claim!
^ Good advice Symbioticgenius.
I have the cash that wasn't the issue here. i was viewed the bumper in the wrong place at the wrong time I guess. Dam scamers. i really can't get into detail until this is all cleared up.
Dude that blows! the best ms front I have seen are from http://www.versusmotorsport.com/
Seriously, I can't imagine they're at all decent for $120. The best MS front I've seen are the real OEM MS, and they usually run 10x that price...
Jedi54 01-24-2010, 11:39 PM holy shit Pico!
it's obvious this guy was out to scam someone based on this deceiving thread title, which can't be deleted once a thread is created otherwise I'm sure he WOULD have changed it as soon as payment was received.
it's obvious he edited his original post and pics in an attempt to cover his tracks.
I'm sure your CC company will take care of you on this, just sucks you have to go through the ordeal.
MTspeeds1 01-25-2010, 01:09 AM new huh. You definitely need to get your money back.
That suck bro
pdxhak 01-25-2010, 09:10 AM WOW that bumper is horrible! Like others have mentioned the CC company should take care of this. The few times I had charges reversed they were very good about it.
holy shit Pico!

Exactly- I think he didn't realized that he couldn't change the title. Cuz like you said he would have. I really wish I could tell everyone the whole story that goes along with this purchase. When I get the money back I'll let everyone in one the story.
WOW that bumper is horrible! Like others have mentioned the CC company should take care of this. The few times I had charges reversed they were very good about it.
Yeah horrible is a good way to put it. I'm working with the CC company right now so we'll see what happens in a few days.. :fingersx:
Dude that blows! the best ms front I have seen are from http://www.versusmotorsport.com/
I wouldn't buy anything from there and wouldn't suggest any one else doing it either. There will be more threads like mine with fitment nonsense.

PM kthanxbai.
;)
CarAndDriver 01-25-2010, 06:35 PM I think you have 60 days to file a claim with the CC so you're fine. Sorry to hear about this. I've had my eBay disaster story early in my eBay buying. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. You really have to do your homework with bigger buys.
Good luck and keep us updated.
^ usually do all the homework. Believe I'm a SOB when it comes to detail. I'll let everyone know what going on very soon when this is all cleared up and i got my money and he has received his POS bumper.
60 hours and this will be fixed -- give or take a few
Razz1 01-25-2010, 10:30 PM Wow! Sorry to hear about that.
I stear away from the net for transactions.
kersh4w 01-26-2010, 01:06 AM damn scammers. i remember last june i was scammed out of my stock intake and $165. and it was right before i went to OCS so i couldnt deal with paypal.
:/
Krazed_Rx8 01-26-2010, 10:50 AM That bumper made me
^ Yeah well it made me want to buy a gun and go hunting
chrism 01-26-2010, 05:25 PM man if it were on here i could probably bring back the deleted post......
^ I know you would buddy.
Holy Shit....
After several emails this guy finally got back to me today to confirm the address for the return.
After all the emails and a phone call (I talked to mommy) he stating that he will not take it back................. And to leave him alone. WTF
I want to cut this guys balls off.
I'm just trying to be the good guy and return the bumper and he's NOT working with me at all.
My claim with the bank should go though tomorrow for the refund-- Can this guy stop this claim from being processed? Should I be worried about anything else?
Advice guys PLEASE.....
ac3mastuh 01-31-2010, 08:28 PM I can't believe this douchebag is trying to give you as much trouble as he is.
ZachLegend 01-31-2010, 08:30 PM :( .
sebarx8 01-31-2010, 08:32 PM whats the number so all the rx8 club can call him and tell him asshole !!
Jedi54 01-31-2010, 08:32 PM what a freaking tool
no, he can't stop the refund. He'd have to the bank that it was a valid transaction which obviously it's not.
^ I understand that but how's the bank to know what an oem bumper looks like???
Its his word against mine--- Who's side will they take?
Jedi54 01-31-2010, 08:36 PM you have an address, right?
just ship it back, you can then prove to the bank that the item was not as described and you have proof that you've returned it. Now you want your money back... :D:
^ true
what are the chances of this guy paypaling me money for the shipping lol yeah right
here's my email conversation tonight
------------------------------------------------------------------
it is real! install it and you will see it fits! i'm not a professionnal, but i bought tjis for over 1000$ didnt needed this anymore! dont call back my parents anymore...
Date: Sun, 31 Jan 2010 20:52:31 -0500
First of all this is not what was advertise in your ad. You listed a OEM Mazdaspeed bumper-- I did not get an OEM bumper. What I did get was urethane ebay replica bumper that is not worth the 750 I paid for it. I've filed i claim with my bank about this and WILL get my money back. I'm just trying to be the good guy here and return this bumper because it IS NOT AUTHENTIC as you stated in your AD.
I'm the one dealing with this hassle buddy.. I got a part I can't do anything with and you know the modifications that would have to be made to make this fit properly.
You said it was real---- and it is not--- I would have never bought this if i knew it wasn't OEM

Date: Sun, 31 Jan 2010 17:20:46 -0500
I would like to know the address where I should ship the mazda rx8 bumper back to.
I would like to return it asap so please confirm the address.
here's my phone number again
908-303-9895
Thanks
Neil
Jedi54 01-31-2010, 08:44 PM I'd edit your phone number out of there
ac3mastuh 01-31-2010, 08:44 PM hahaha, wow, not only is he a douche, but he's not even literate
ZachLegend 01-31-2010, 08:49 PM What an idiot. Shit he's probably my age :(
Making us look all bad.
I'd edit your phone number out of there
Im to tired/pissed to edit lol i don't care.
you guys are cool-- call me anytime ;)
ac3mastuh 01-31-2010, 09:00 PM you guys are cool-- call me anytime ;)
okie doke snookums ;) LOL
Bigbacon 02-01-2010, 07:47 AM WAIT..
DO NOT return it to him, he will just scam someone else with it and sooner or later he'll get away with it. Do not give him this ability, get your money back and destroy it.
Also, send a letter to the home owner and send it to the kids address (which you should have from paypal)
this way the kids parents get a nice letter explaining wtf happened and if the parents aren't complete morons, they'll start beating the kid.
JinDesu 02-01-2010, 09:33 AM I swear, all I saw when I read the kid's response was "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH"
CarAndDriver 02-01-2010, 02:56 PM Definitely don't return it to him. You'll be mailing your evidence back. Who knows if the CC is going to want to see more pics of it, etc. And as other posters said, he'll do this to another person.
chrism 02-02-2010, 05:55 AM i would contact both your local and his local police....if i am not mistaken internet fraud is both federal and serious
Guys this is getting way out of hand
My bank did get me the money back from paypal - but not from the guy I bought the bumper from. So now I'm in default with paypal for the cost of the bumper (750)
The bank basically said the only way I can go about this is to file suit on the guy which would kinda be pointless because it would cost a lot more to do that then what I paid for the bumper.
My bank can't do anything and paypal can't do anything because it wasn't a ebay purchase.
So now what?????????? I pissed and just about out of options. This guy won't accept the bumper back and now it looks like I'm stuck with it.
Are there any other ways to go about this other then going after him legally?
Help Guys Please...
Thanks.
Jedi54 02-02-2010, 12:28 PM so wait...
bank yanked $750 from your paypal (which obviously wasn't there) so you have $750 in your account but now your paypal account is negative $750?
wtf!
listen to Chrism, call your local PD and his local PD. That won't cost you anything to file a report, if that bumper crossed state lines to get to you he's going to be PROPER FUCKED.
was the payment done via a bank transfer thru papal? (no credit card involved?)
^ Yep bank took it from my paypal.
I tried reaching out to this guy once more today-- see what happens
I could do the local PD idea BUT this guy is from Canada -- so I don't Know how serious they will take this being that he's from another country
Tamas 02-02-2010, 02:51 PM Not sure if you have too many options with PayPal... their policy regarding buyer's protection sucks, especially if the payment was not for an eBay auction. It says:
"If you are unable to resolve the problem, you may escalate an Item Not Received (INR) Dispute to a Claim – but you may not escalate a Significantly Not as Described Dispute to a Claim."
Since yours is a "significantly not as described" case, they don't offer you any help in this case, unless the seller still has the funds in his account which he probably moved already.
You could try to stick to your guns and request PayPal to collect from the other guy, but their policy is not in your favor it seems...
I'd try to file a small claims court case against the guy. That should not be expensive (since you represent yourself), and you have all the evidence to win the case, but in all honesty, I'm not sure how that works since I've never done it yet.
If anything then it is extremely annoying and time consuming to deal with this, but scumbags should not get away with such things.
Edit:
I just noticed you posted that the scammer is in Canada... well, then the small claims court idea may not work. :(
May be worth a try to investigate though what the recourse could be.
Anyone want a bumper?????
$150.00 plus shipping and it's yours-- No Joke
Looks like I'm taking the hit on this so I'm going to try getting some of my money back.
Bigbacon 02-04-2010, 09:22 AM just tell paypal to fuck off. Get your bank account off of there.
I had this happen with paypal once for like 1200 dollars. I will never give paypal a direct link to my bank account again, ever.
pdxhak 02-04-2010, 10:46 AM Pico, what ever happened with your CC company and getting the charges reversed?
9krpmrx8 02-04-2010, 10:59 AM Pico, what ever happened with your CC company and getting the charges reversed?
He got his money back from the Charge back but now he is negative with paypal.
UPDATE
Well I'm screwed LOL. Got to figure out the paypal situation-- been putting it off, I just don't want to think about it to be honest.
I would never use or sell this POS to anyone. I hope I never meet this guy cuz it's going to be ugly.
CASE CLOSE.........................
So I think i'm going to just throw it away. 750$ lesson.
9krpmrx8 02-11-2010, 09:59 AM That sucks dude. Sorry. But what goes around, comes around.
JinDesu 02-11-2010, 10:27 AM Good grief.. that's one expensive lesson.. I'm not one to hope ill of other people, but that little bitch needs some beating....

Chad D. 02-13-2010, 10:26 AM There may be alot of 8's in Canada but not a whole lot of enthusiasts. Let us know the region this tool is from, and we can bitch list him from there, even on local performance forums, meets and stuff. Not many people up here put up with people like that. If he's from SE Ontario I will do my best.
Theives are always theives, cannot trust them.
