When go in reverse the parking sensor will not stop going of. I have cleaned all the sensors and am not parked near anything. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what could cause this?

It all worked fine untill about two days ago. Normally it would beep a few times and then silent until I was close to an object. Now it is continuous whenever I am in reverse. Makes it rather noisy and anoying when reversing.

Any thoughts?

I don't know if you are going to get too many replies as not one US model RX-8 has a reverse parking sensor from the factory.

I'm not familiar with Mazda proximity sensors. I have just installed numerous after market models on plenty of vehicles. Could be the sensor itself failing. Or a wiring issue. Sounds like a job for the Dealer.

I'm not familiar with Mazda's prox switch either.
Do they have a sensitivity adjustment on them?
It'll look like a rotary pot that you turn to adjust sensitivity.
Some prox switches also have an adjustment to make it N/O or N/C.
Really wise I knew what make/model switch this is.

Wow I am supprised US models do not have sensors. Here you can get them back and front if you want. I've only got them on the back.

Spoke to an auto electrician friend the other day. Sounds like one of the sensors has faulted. So have to find a new one and work out which one.

The sensors are non-adjustable.

It's amazing how much you come to rely on the sensors when you have them, especially with the parking in our street where it is bumper to bumper.

Cheers

If you got OEM sensors your dealer can check every single sensor by the WDS. Make a call around first, not every workshop has unlocked this function on their devices because they need to pay for it...
