View Full Version : Corksport, What kind of Cust Service is this?
Spin9k 06-08-2009, 06:45 PM I bougth a used RX-8 CorkSport CAT Back Exhaust 2nd hand on ebay in FEB 2005, some 4+ yrs ago.
In fall 2008 the rear pipe sprung a leak at the exhaust hanger weld.
I contacted Corksport May 09 and explained all. Yet, even thou the exhaust was used, even thou I wasn't the original purchaser, and even thou the warranty was not transferable, they went above and beyond, they without question offered a 'used', but virtually new replacement part for a 4+ yr old product for shipping cost.
As I told them, I love the sound the Corksport makes from my RX-8, can they help! I think they deserve a big :bigok: IF you could imagine the best customer service...could you do better than this? Corksport rocks, they support their customers and products 200%.

trustbuddy 06-08-2009, 10:11 PM yeah, the way you worded the title makes it seem that you had bad customer service...
I bought from corksport before... great people over there.
Charles R. Hill 06-09-2009, 01:32 AM That is the WORST customer service I have ever heard of! :lol2:
Nice play of words on the title to generate the views they deserve after this.;)
jsjjr 06-09-2009, 09:14 AM Awesome!
Wow, that's damned impressive. Kudos to them for sure.
pdxhak 06-09-2009, 12:58 PM I have the Corksport exhaust and love it. Also I have had incredible customer service from them as well! I purchased their exhaust and had a minor exhaust leak.
I took it to their shop (approx. 25 miles from my house) and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Even though I installed the exhaust myself, they put my car on the lift to find the leak. The uninstalled the exhaust a couple of times in an attempt of finding the leak. Ultimately it was one of the welds. They simply uninstalled the exhaust and installed a new one. Again at no charge to me!
No more leak. Extremely happy customer. Corksport FTW!!
dondo 06-09-2009, 01:23 PM whoa. nice service!

:scratchhe ahhhh...nothing 'tore loose'...
....a hairline crack developed on one side of the hanger weld (pipe thinned out pipe from welding)...and only came to light after some 4 yrs...
...the pipe weighs all of 6.8lbs
trustbuddy 06-12-2009, 12:47 PM one thing i don't understand is that they are vendors on rx8web but not here...and from what i know, there is 10x more traffic here... i mean, rx8club is the biggest rx8 forum on the web, right?
anyone know why???
alnielsen 06-12-2009, 12:50 PM Simple, the cost to become a vendor and advertise.
pdxhak 06-12-2009, 02:00 PM They are vendor on 7club as well. Maybe they think that is enough?

I must agree. I bought a set of their SS braided oil cooler lines for my rx7. A couple of years after I put it together, one of them started leaking. I sent them pictures but told them I did not still have the invoice from buying them. they said it was okay, sent out a replacement line UP FRONT and also INCLUDED A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL for the bad line.

All I will say is, the owners of some websites are reasonable in their expectation of advertising costs, while the owners of other websites are more aggressive in their requirements to become a vendor.
IF you do more research into the matter, you will find one large internet company has bought up close to 100 major internet automotive forums. Logic would dictate that the only reason to undertake this project, would be if they know a way to make more money in return. Now, ask yourself how a website makes money. Once you answer that question, you will know why this company has bought up these forums. The act of a large entity acquiring multiple smaller entities in an effort to be the only option available for a certain service is generally known as a monopoly, because it allows the large entity to charge more for their service than a smaller entity could.
IF you will notice, since this large group of car forums (including this one) has changed from private to corporate ownership (late 2007), the number of active paying vendors on each seems to have gone down significantly. This is especially true on 7club.
All of this has had a major impact on the vendor community, especially during these times of economic hardship, but most of the regular users of said forums remain largely ignorant of these issues while they post aimlessly in their lounge threads on these very same forums that promoted the problem to begin with.
