the shop went to install my springs (tein stech) and said there is some sort of switch on the rear suspension that they are unsure of what it does and they don't want to trigger a dash light by installing the springs....they called mazda dealer and Mazda No. America to find out what it is before they do anything...anybody else have this issue or know what they are referring to?

^They are idiots. And why take your car to a shop to get springs installed? It's really not that hard and there is a DIY for it, next time, take a day off, call a friend, and learn how to install springs on your own car!

Your shop is trying to pull some major bs. I've taken apart the struts on my car...my friend's cars...other forum members cars...there is no 'switch'.
take some time and get in touch with some local forum members and do it yourself. It's not that hard. Just a little tedious. Save yourself money, learn something new and avoid getting screwed by shops...

there is something back there one one of the control arms, I think it is for the DSC. You can see it yourself if you go look under the car. It is on the drivers side. I would take a picture but I don't have an 8 anymore.
If I remember the only problem you will have is if it is re-installed incorrectly. It is a little box, with a 2 piece arm coming off it. The piece of the arm that attaches to the box needs to be parallel to the ground, then it comes down 90 degrees and attaches to one of the rear links.
That is the only switch I am remotely aware of that could cause any problems during install. I've installed 4 different suspensions onto my 8 when I had it and there was never a problem.

but you dont even need to remove it, so I dont see the problem. Just tell them not to F with your ABS lines

lol, just checked and you are correct. I always thought it was for the DSC system, couldn't tell you why I thought that, but I did.
Either way, it won't affect the suspension install at all. I would try and find another shop, or install yourself. Maybe find someone in your area who could give you a hand.

It's a fragile switch though...and expensive. Make sure they unbolt it to protect it
