View Full Version : leading spark plugs in all 4 spots?

I've read on several other threads that some people have put 4 trailing spark plugs in all 4 spots and haven't had any problems.

My question is, what about putting 4 leading spark plugs in all 4 spots? Does this cause problems? Can they be installed like this for 20-30 miles of driving, just until I can get trailing plugs without any problems.

My car wont' turn over, all the spark plugs are completely fouled and need to be changed. My car is currently parked in a parking lot and I just drive it home before it gets towed away. I just want to know if I can put 4 leading spark plugs as a temporary fix so I can drive my car home.

thanks

Leading plugs have a longer reach than the trailing plugs...they will not work

Put in the new leading...and leave the trailing old ones....it should run OK like that.

If it won't start...pull/push start it...

DO NOT install 4 leading plugs.

Your better off getting a parking ticket than wrecking your engine.

AMEN to that

it's also cheaper to get your car towed

thank you for the info. I'll replace just the lead plugs for now, just to drive the car home, then I'll change the trailing plugs once they come in.

thank you again.

Put them in only if you want another engine.

Wrong heat range too.

Trailing plug point runs a higher pressure compared to the leading hence the difference in plug ratings for "leading - trailing"

7's in the trailing (if you could make them fit) would ping & pop the engine if you asked for 100% throttle.

Guys get away with 9's all round for that reason. The only consequence for 9's in the leading is that they will foul within 1000km of driving as the heat in them is lower allowing carbon deposits to attach themselves to the plug

By pressure I hope you mean heat/temperature.

Yeah pressure is when you dont pre-load it
