Hello everyone,

I've been searching the forums and can't find what I'm looking for. I'm going to be putting some subs on top of the stock bose system for some extra bass. However, I can't find a how-to thread or some help as to removing the stock head unit. Does the RX-8 even have RCA outputs for subs? If anyone can redirect me to a thread or give some information, I'd really appreciate it. I just can't seem to find anything.

Thanks!

This will help in regards to removing the radio http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=36001 RCA jacks are a custom thing. U might want to find another member with subs and see how they wired them.

if u r just adding a subwoofer system, there is no need to remove the radio. All connections can be made at the amp in the trunk under the rear deck. U can grab the signals going into the factory amp and split them into a line driver that will maintain the voltage and run the outputs to both the factory and aftermarket amps. Use all 4 channels to maintain a non-fading sub output. There are other ways to hook this up, however this is the ONLY correct way otherwise you will lose bass output the higher your volume goes.

Btw, I highly recommend an amp with a remote gain or bass EQ knob.

Great! I'm glad you told me that before I started ripping apart my head unit. Are there any how-to threads for doing this that anyone is aware of?

Look for the black connector going into the bose amp. Here's the wire colors

I used the Audiocontrol LC6i for my line out converter. Very happy with. All of this and more in the first link.
