Did you take an earth lead back to the battery or or you using a nearby point on the chassis? I was planning to possibly go with a 250/1 and 300/4 or 450/4, but to mount them in the small well in the boot and cover them with a grille. (and yes, wire both terminals back to the battery.) Safe to say it's a field proximity issue then, but whether the field is being emitted by the amp or the speakers is the next question. I'm not sure about the JL, but I know my Class T (which was Zapco's class D using a Tripath chip) could mess with the reception of cars next to me :D. If your JL is a class D, consider yourself lucky you get any reception at all.
