I'm wondering when the traction/dynamic stability control light (the little skidding car light - not the DSC OFF light) come on? Just momentarily during a hard turn (I can feel brake application), or should it come on then and stay on until car is turned off? I've had both happen recently after a rear wheel bearing replacement and alignment.

Before this work, for the first 3500 miles on the ODO, I don't think it had ever turned on (I leave DSC on all the time) - or else if it IS momentary, I just missed it during hard cornering...

It should never come on if DSC OFF switch is pressed and DSC OFF light is on, correct?

Thanks,

Dr. J

Yes. If DSC OFF is pressed, then your TCS light will not come on. (meaning that your dynamic stability control is off.

THE TCS light will flash when the system is being activated (as needed).

If the TCS indicator is solid ON, then it means that the system detected a mal-function of some sort and DCS is inoperable.
If the light comes solid ON by itself, try to re-start the ingition. If the light does not turn off, take it to the dealership. THere is probably a mal-function with the system.

Another way to make it light up SOLID ON, is to press and hold the DCS button for about 7 seconds. This will trick the computer into thinking that there is a switch problem with the DCS OFF switch, therefore will turn off the DCS/TCS system. Then if can easily be re-set by reseting the ignition.

hope this helps.

DCS/TCS are two different things. Ones for body sway and the other for tire slipage due to loss of traction.

Due a search. There is a very long informative thread on this.

to reset your tcs light you have to turn the wheel all the way to the left then the right then restart the car. It should only come on when needed and will flash in the middle of the tach.
