Hi'ya. I'm planning on having my rx8's windows tinted. Any recommendations where around the areas of Bellevue, Kirkland, or even Seattle and Renton that does really good tinting jobs at fair prices? I've already researched a few places around those areas but thought I'd ask fellow 8's in here and see if they have any places they'd recommend. Thanks.

 

Ive heard good things about Mr. Tint in Bellevue and Accutint http://www.accutintseattle.com/index.asp

Also remember something about a place in Shoreline (I think), like Jims Detail Shop, something along those lines.

Also heard good thing about VTR in Everett.

 

I plan on taking mine to Mr. Tint when the weather warms up in the Spring.

 

There was talk about doing a "group tint" when we were on the Leavenworth drive. I'd still be down with that.

 

Oh Evildor! LOL That was me talking about it. My brother is a car broker and he set something up for a group discount (like dealer cost) with Auto Trim Design in Lynnwood. Here's their site: http://www.autotrimseattle.com/process.asp

I'll contact the person who he dealt with and get the details. Kristopher and I were going to do it, as are a couple of people in my family.

If not, anyone heard anything good/bad about "the darkside" tinting on Lake City Way?

 

I'd like to get clear bra done on the front, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to get some sort of special pricing for everything if we all go down there as a group.

Cool. I'll check out those places and ask them if they would be willing to give a discount if we do a group tint. Let's do a head count on those who would be willing to do this and a time frame on when do we want to do this.

 

Depending on price - I found it local for $180...hard to beat.

A friend had his windows tinted in a group tint with the IS300 club a couple of years ago. They turned out really nice and he paid about $120. I'll see if I can find out where that was.

 

Damn $120 is a really good price!

 

Wow, seriously good price! The only thing I worry about is quality, especially when it comes to doing the back window. It's not even that easy to clean myself

 

That back window will be the killer.

 

I called around today to get group prices on tinting. The best price I found was at Tech Auto Sound in Lynnwood. My friend had his IS300 done there and it looks really nice. Normally they charge $200 but can do a group of 10 cars for $140 each. I forgot to ask them about Warranty and technical details. Next was Dark Side Glass Coating in Seattle. Normally $200, winter special for $175, group special for $165. They have a Lifetime warranty. They do the back window in a single sheet, so it's not spliced. They file off the tint at the top of the windows so there is no visible line on the edge when the Windows are rolled down.

The other places I called were Accutint ($289 with 15% off for the group) and Mr. Tint ($239 with 10% off for the group). Accutint said they'd all have to be on the same invoice. I'd prefer not to do this in case anybody has problems in the future and needs to go back.

Other information: Legal in Washington is 35%. The factory windows aren't perfectly clear, so a 35% tint on the factory windows brings them somewhere around 28%. It's highly unlikely that anybody would get bothered for this. Most people will probably want the tint between 20% and 35%.

How many are interested in a group tint? I got prices based on 10 RX-8's. I'd like to go with Dark Side or Tech Auto. I'd be up for doing this in December or January.

 

I'm in. Dark-side in Seattle is my pick.
