I've seen on a few threads that there are lots of 8's available on dealer lots now. Is that true? Is that the case everywhere? It certainly isn't the case here in Canada (Burlington, near Toronto)

I haven't even seen another one on the road yet. Just 3 at a dealer a few weeks ago, all sold, oh ya, one silver one today passing a dealership, looked like a demo.

In Canada the car is still rare since we only get about 700..

Only seen one in the streets and that was in Sacramento. The dealer near my work had eight of them last week, four of them two weeks before that. They are apparanly piling up here in Phoenix.

Only 460 sold in all of canada, that's not very many!

100+ with some of the dealer searchs I've done within 75 miles if I remember correctly. The fact that you're not seeing them anywhere besides dealers may not be such a good thing, at least not for Mazda. But it's a good thing for people that want the car and have not purchased it yet, if anyone out there is paying MSRP right now or in the near future they need to be smacked.

according to the thing i saw about the power issue on Autoweek, ~3000 have been sold (or ordered i'd assume) before the august 26th deadline...

Not sure if Mazda's inventory search is accurate on their website; however as of today, within a 150 mile radius of where I live in Los Angeles, according to Mazda's website there are 679 RX-8's available for sale. This seems to be a lot of cars on hand!!!

i think mazda messed up on the allocation of cars per country as well as other things.

i'm still waiting for a GT titanium grey 6MT ... but i only put a deposit down in July though.

The dealer inventory search on the Mazda site reflects cars that the dealer EXPECTS to arrive. Not necessarily what's actually sitting on the lot. Some may be on the lot, others on a truck, or others at port. When I was looking for my car I took the information from dealer searches back to those lots and asked about those cars. The response each time was "we have no idea where that particular car is." So what you're often seeing is their current allocation of cars soon to be available. And considering all the dealer trades going on behind the scenes, the car you see on the site may not be going to that particular dealership in the end. It may have already been sold to another dealer.

the dealership inventory thing is far from accurate, it says my dealership not only has 25 cars (they have 3), but that they have mine (which is still MIA, i'm waiting for ibfubar or budaman to run my vin # for me)

keep in mind that the RX-8 advertising blitz is really only now getting underweigh, so it shouldnt be too surprising that there aren't many on the road ... :)

Didn't Mazda state that they sold 3,500+ RX8 and that they planned to produce 17,000+ vehicles total for this year?

Yet, I am still waiting for my MT ordered in May. Again, one more piece of evidence that the pre-order progam was a complete failure.

well mine was supposed to be here in the 2nd week of august, but it was totalled in that train wreck incidence, so i had to start from scratch, i think you should go to the dealership you bought your car from and raise hell

Beav, sorry to hear about your car. I hope you get your 8 soon.

My dealer is pretty decent. They have try to keep me informed as best they can. Can't say the same for MNAO. Of course, I tend to learn more through this forum than any other sources. :) . I plan to wait it out, since I already waited this long. But if my 8 doesn't get in by end of this month, then...

Not a complete failure, as the pre-order program only ran January through March- after that, you were just ordering a car. And considering how long some of us that ordered back in January and February had to wait, you're doing pretty well on the time!
:)

But, you are correct that they sold over 3500 8s July-August, (and it sounds like they've heard from less 100 people who want to sell them back to Mazda), and they were saying they expected to sell between 15,000 and 17,000 this year- but I haven't heard any updated numbers for about a week.

The reason I said the pre-order program was a complete failure is as follow. When I placed my order, dealer assures me that I am a pre-order. I even got the pre-order gifts. However, no emails were ever sent to me from MNAO. When I called MNAO, they can't find me in their system even today. I understand from past threads that a lot of pre-orders experienced similar problems. Anyways, that's off subject. Just wanted to vent a little. :o

Whatever the numbers might say, there are a lot more cars in the lots compare to a month ago.

Well that sure is strange that MNAO dosn' know about your order. I was also a preorder but had no problems other than seeing my car sit at the port waiting to be delivered for 2 weeks. I would suggest you talk to your dealer and have him track it down. I kept some gentle pressure on my dealer and he called me the afternoon it was rolling off the truck. IMHO make him find out exactly where the car is or get you one just like it asap. You'll be glad you did.
