Clutch worn out in 18 months

I apologise - it seems that i didnt originally post this in the right place.

dear all,

new to the forum, but ive checked it out in the past to see just how impressed people are with the rx8 - and generally, i think that 8 customers are very satisfied!

i bought mine from new 18 months ago now, and ive been really pleased with it. i use my car for work which sees me driving about - hence ive covered 28k miles in 18 months.

I've driven the car enthusiastically, but never thrashed it.

Earlier this week, the clutch gave up the ghost and i've had to have it replaced. Mazda did not warrant this part - hence i'm hit with a £610 bill!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just wondering if any of you guys have had similar clutch related problem - ie, wearing out in 28k miles/18 months. personally, i think this is obscene - i've had other sporty cars that have done 80k miles plus without even a sniff of clutch problems.

mazda uk basically laughed at my problem - stating that it is outside of the warranty period of 9k miles or 1 year.

let me know what you think i should do - do i have a case, and should i fight mazda?

cheers,

tim

Mine wore out at 18k miles. It wasnt due to abuse since mazda covered it under warranty.

Loose pressure plate bolts = culprit.

I had a friend of mine get his clutch replaced at 18k. Mazda paid for it though.
