what are the qualifications of the iron butt award? Does flying in to Socal, and THEN driving in the caravan count together? or is it strictly driving?

I don't know about you, but I think I'm going to be the farthest distance traveled... and that is a LOT of traveling

 

boils down to seat time and is a encouragement for folks to bring their cars

Perhaps look at it this way, if you were one of the San Antonio folks or Tiff from Alabama
and drove for countless hours would you think it fair someone that was on a plane for
5 1/2 should win?

Perhaps as the years go on we will need to add some "wings" or Airtime" award
But as this is the first year for trophies I think we need to stay focused on the cars
and the people driving them.
