Yes, SoCal holds the first US RX-8 meet!
There might be some 8's turning up at Autotech Motorsports on Saturday the 26th off Miramar Road, San Diego for an RX-7 dyno day gathering...a silver one should be there for sure

Hey, I just got back from my weekend in LA. I managed to put close to 400 miles on the car this weekend. I'm glad the picture of the Green got posted, since my uncle forgot to bring his camera so that's the only picture I have.
A few things since I put on so many miles in such a short period of time:
* I felt the heat in the trunk and console on Saturday morning after driving about 50 miles. By Sunday I wasn't feeling it nearly as much, even after driving much more through the LA heat of midday. It was still there, but much reduced.
* Gas mileage has improved. 17 MPG coming up, including a triple-digit race with a riced-out Civic (yes I won), which may have affected the final tally. 20 MPG on my first refill, 21.5 MPG after coming back tonight. All three trips were about 2/3 highway, 1/3 city driving.
* I washed the car with another uncle's power washer. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. It must have received it a bit dirty from the dealer. That green shines in the sun like a Tahitian pearl. There's no longer any doubt that it's green in the shade. I'll do my best to have it cleaned and polished for the next meet, anybody who was at both should notice a difference.
* AC is starting to work much better. I can put it at number 1 and it blows better than it did at two or three when I first got it. Maybe it just needed to get broken in.
* As my cousin said, it's got a high o-dam factor. As in people (mostly guys) pointing at the car and going "Oh, Damn!" I had people honking and waving, or with a thumbs up. I had Corvettes and Hummers and Mercedes checking me out. Drivers were sticking their head out the window or looking in the rear-view window heading down the freeway. No more forehead prints, fortunately. :D Even driving down Melrose, this car stood out.

Althought I didn't have a chance to meet everyone due to duty call
it's great to meet some of you in the meet. I was the last Winning Blue to show up and was the first to leave after the group picture. Originally didn't feel like showing up due to work, but something pull me like a magnet to metal and I got a little bit lost aroud there :D Nevertheless, I have put 330+ miles and the car seemed to be more responsible now than two days ago. Weave in and out traffic is great, especially on the circular freeway transition.
However, I do notice that the Nav might have some minor bugs:
1. Key click audio sound (beep) might not work, have to turn off then on to reset. (Happened a few times)
2. Subsequent/too fast keying might cause nav to freezed; there is no reset and a power off then on will reset. (Happened once)
And lastly, all of you, owner of those rx8, already know, almost everywhere you go, there seemed to be people looking and pointing at the RX8. I've also been approached by and talking to strangers from time to time when getting in and out of the car. :D
