The total loop will be approximately 130 miles long (depending on your travels within the State Park). That is from the start at In & Out until we get to Fiesta. After leaving the Lake Mead road there are a few stations before reaching the Fiesta. You must fill up before leaving the start as within the first 50 miles there is but one station and the next 80 (or so) has none.

Today fuel prices in Las Vegas, Nevada are 2.31 for regular to 2.51 for premium.

The course will consist of Interstate travel (some at 75 MPH legal limit) to mild country type two lane road changing to twisty two lane hilley road to a limited speed park two lane road and finally a Federal Park type two lane limited access road. Nevada roads are usually in very good repair but the first few miles on the Interstate are under construction (widening), we would suggest using care here.

You will be given a flier at the start with written instructions as to the course so if for any reason you get separated from the group you can find us. A phone number will be provided for emergencies.

I am reasonably sure that everyone understands that this is the desert and that the air temperatures will be well above 100 and the humidity well below 12% (closer to 6%). Dress accordingly, use a hat when leaving the car and above all drink lots of water (not beer, water).

Presently AJ will lead the group from the start and I will bring up the rear. Since part of the first leg of the tour is in a construction zone speed will be slow and everyone should be able to keep up or catch up.

If I did not answer your questions, bring them on

I'm leading this? I don't remember seeing any posted 75 mph speed limits. I did see a lot of wide open canyon straight aways and some nice twisties through THE VALLEY OF FIRE! (insert echo here).

You must have been looking for girls (again) while going down 15. It changes to 75 just after the speedway. Watch all your girl friends with AJ You must have a memory loss also.

I would assume that 12 guys would be interested. Only 17 more days until the party starts.

"What Ever Happens In Vegas" Meet

"WHAT EVER HAPPENS IN VEGAS" ANNUAL MEET
Due to popular demand and threats, the Vegas group is having the second annual "What Ever Happens In Vegas" meet. We were requested to have it a little earlier this year and picking a date has been a nightmare. It is open to all Mazda cars but especially the RX8 and attendees will be welcome from Arizona, California , Nevada and Utah.(actually from anywhere you wish to come from) (To see picks from last year go to Post 28 and click on: Vegas / SoCal Meet https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.ph...=1#post2598922 - 2008 Vegas / SoCal https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=153676Panoramic Picture by A. Mair)

Date of the Meet: June 19, 20 & 21 2009

If you would like a great price on a room, please see Dominion's post #19 in this thread:" I want to help!
I can get a killer price. Let me know now before we get to full. Summer is a big deal in Vegas and anything with a pool and jacuzzi tends to get packed!!!I work for a all suite hotel. I can get you guys a kick *** rate of $39.00 for a room with a queen bed work desk and kitchenette OR for $59.00 a room with a queen and a sofa sleeper large work desk and kitchenette. Thats a sweet deal cuz the $39 is normally $89.99 and the $59.00 is normally $119.99. There is only one way to get this rate. Through me. Its a clean place and parking is good for your 8's. I know cuz last year no one had any issues and I park my 8 there everyday. If you guys want I can cone off parking up front. Just let me know.
Let me know if you want a room via pm. I will hold however many rooms you guys need under my name with out a credit card! when you show up to check in you will need a credit car or debit card. If you dont show just shoot me a pm and let me know your not coming. No big deal. I'm not going to charge you if you cancel. Other places will.Oh and dress for summer temps in the 100's lol yea its going to be hot
Regards,
-Gilbert
"
or contact Phil's 8, Jedi54 or Easy E_1. Dominion also points out that the temperature in June will be mildly hot so dress or lack there of, accordingly (especially all female attendees)

Schedule of Events:
Friday June 19th, a caravan from Arizona is being organized by Easy_E1 Please contact him for information.

Friday June 19th, a caravan from California is being organized by Jedi. Please contact him for information.

Friday June 19th the caravan from Utah will meet for breakfast and hopefully get on the road by 11am. Contact 04RX8gr or RaleighRX8 for more information.

Friday June 19th @ 5pm till 9pm: General meet in the parking lot of In & Out on West Sahara about 1 mile west of I15 (normal local meeting spot). Directions: Exist I 15 @ Sahara West, travel west on West Sahara for approximately one mile to In & Out 2900 West Sahara *Fuel available within 1/8 mile of In & Out: 7/11 is 1/16 mile east of In & Out, Chevron 1/8 mile west of In & Out also has a car wash, Rebel 1/8 mile west of In & Out.

Prior to the start of the Saturday scenic tour you will need to have a full tank of fuel. The area we are going to has extremely limited fuel access. The total tour is about 130 miles

Friday June 19th @9pm until ?:At 9pm sharp we will be leaving the lot and going to Dicks at the Excalibur for food and drink. http://tinyurl.com/ar5ycr Travel map from In & Out: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...9&ie=UTF8&z=14

Saturday morning June 20th @ 10am till 2pm (aprox): We will again meet at the In & Out parking lot on Sahara for a scenic drive to and around Lake Mead culminating in a no host lunch at the Henderson Fiesta Hotel & Casino. There is a buffet (up stares) and a Denny's inside for your pleasure. I suggest that you bring a few bottles of water with you as it will be warm and very little humidity.

PLEASE NOTE:The economy in Nevada has effected our drive. Part of our run is thru a State Park (Valley of Fire) and when I originally layed out the course you did not have an entrance fee to drive thru the park. Now the State is short of money and they are collecting even to drive thru. The fee is $6.00. AJ, Armin and I have looked at alternative access roads and have come to the conclusion that due to the twistys getting to the park and the actual beauty of the park that we are still going to use this road. Unfortunately this will require a $6.00 outlay per car.I hope that this does not effect anyones enjoyment of the scenic tour

Saturday evening June 20th @ 7pm until ??: No host get together at the Hof Brau for good times and some good BS. Last year this was a very popular get together.

Thanks for the update Phil!!

First, I wanted to say that I'm happy to report that I will for sure be able to attend this event. I had some complications with $$ which might have prevented me from attending but I was holding out till the last minute to make the decision. So, the party is back on for me so I'm really looking forward to coming out.

I met a few people last year at this event and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot more. This thing is shaping up to be quite a huge event.

While Charles Hill, myself, MazdaManaic and Easy_E1 are going to be there to hang out, I wanted to let everyone know that if you happen to have any parts requests or purchases I'm sure we can drag the parts with us to Vegas.

I know Phil will have some new goodies on his RX8!

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to an awesome weekend of twisty action, rotary action and of course for those who know...BBBEEEEERRRRRR!!!

Clarification

I just wanted to "clean up" Phil's update for those of us who use an RX-8Club skin that makes the post above illegible and to add some useful information and links (most of which are now "in-line").

If you would like a great price on a room at the Candlewood Suites, please see Dominion's post #19 in this thread.

Additionally, the following hotels are offering rooms at rates comparable to the Candlewood (Dominion):

Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel
Royal Vacation Suites
El Cortez Hotel and Casino

And for just a little more, there are rooms at the Las Vegas Hilton available for $70. The Hilton has an excellent garage, easy access, is closer to the In & Out and, well, ITS THE HILTON! Elvis practically lived there.

I'm not going to be able to go now. Thanks to the government I have some special requirements and can't leave the state now. They have me on a tight leash, have to call this number EVERYDAY no matter what and if they call my 'color' I have to go pee in a cup by 530 that day. Weekends, holidays it doesn't matter. Also have to go to AA meetings and group counseling once a week. This stuff is costing me a **** ton of money. All this for having a less the an eighth of an ounce of weed.

I will be there next year for sure but I just got rear ended by 'the man'
