so guys how bout some help advice... I got my first "No Front License Plate" ticket... my couzin jsut told me to show up at the CHP office with a plate in front and they'll write it off. But I don't know who issued the ticket. Whether it was parking person, a police officer, or CHP. It says "Parking Violation" on the headline. So I don't exactly know who to appease or fight or whatever...
Looks like either a "parking person" or LAPD. It says City of Los Angeles so I doubt it would be CHP.
I went a couple of months without mine and decided it wasn't worth it to not have it on. Plus, I now have custom plates so why not show them off?!
However, that ticket is only $25 which isn't too bad.

Yea its not too bad, but man almost went a whole year without em... Oh yea and i said "parking person" because i totally forgot they were called "Parking Enforcement"
Oh BTW filled up next to an 8 owner (titatnium gray) at 76 on vermont and fountain... I didn't say anything cuz you didn't even give me a second glance, just wondering who you were. It's all rotary/8 love so if anyone sees me don't hesitate to say Hello. I'm scared of people in general, "Hello" breaks the ice...

Lucky it wasn't CHP.. otherwise you MUST get it signed off from them, and they can get pretty ****. Go to any poilce dept... walk to the desk, tell them you have the plate placed..etc etc.. most of the time they don't even both to go check, BUT if they do, just use double sticky tape on it, and they'll just see it from a distance... say ok, and sign off the ticket.

I think there is some confusion regarding your question.
Usually, people refer to getting a ticket 'Signed-off' when they have a cop friend that can get them out of paying for the ticket.
It's like the cop cancels the ticket that was given to you by another cop.
I've never had this done, so I'm not sure how it works.
In the case of your parking ticket, according to what is written on the ticket, I would get the impression that all you need to do is send a $25 payment.
If this is actually treated as a 'Fix-it' ticket, then when people say 'Signed-off', they are referring to you correcting the violation, and then having a cop verify and sign that it was corrected (you have added front plate).
I've never received a ticket that says 'Parking Violation', but I did get one that was a 'Fix-it' ticket, and it had a place for a cop to sign that the problem was corrected. (Mine was for a missing driver side mirror in my old truck). Also, there was no fee for my 'Fix-it' ticket, only a $10 court admin cost. This leads me to believe that yours is just a 'Pay-it' situation.
Your best bet, go to the court and find out exactly from them.
If we (the Forum) steer you wrong, we may apologize, but we're not paying any fees for you... :o
Good luck.

well...I'd say, read the law. You might be able to get away with some ambiguity in the law. The law here in Ohio says that you must display a front and rear license plate, and that the all plates must be secure as to not swing. This leave a lot of room for interpretation, b/c a plate that is sitting on your dash, is in plain view from the front of the vehicle as well as secured to not allow it to swing. So....if your law read something similar, than you can just say it was displayed in the windshield on the dash, thus complying with the law, and nullifying the ticket. Just a thought...again, this is for ohio...check your law.

I got the same ticket about 2 wks ago at LAX. What gets me is that their man power is suppose to be used to protect us against terrorists instead of going around parking lots ticketing people for no front license plates. And according to the parking lot attendents, they do this all the time. So if you don't have a front license plate, don't park in the LAX parking lots especially for over an hour.
But basically for these tickets, its just a fix-it ticket. Just go to a police dept and show them the ticket, they might come outside with you to look at your car and sign it off. Then you just write out a check for $25 and send that in with the ticket. You're done then.

It was such a pain in the *** that I'll always have a front plate on my car.
That ticket is from LA Parking. You'll have to pay it, there is no way to get around that except writing a letter to them and trying to get them to beleive that you did have your plate on the front at the time they wrote you the ticket.
I've been given over $1000 in parking tickets from LA. Gotten out of about a little over half of them, until meter maids started recognizing my car around campus ( I went to USC for 5 years and drove the whole time to work and class on campus, I also had to worry about parking in front of my place). I've done everything from stealing ticket books and writing fake tickets, to memorizing meter maid's schedules. LA will ticket you for anything. I've been parked in a residential area street and have gotten fix it tiickets. I got 1 front liscencse plate ticket the whole 5 years, cop musta been the biggest dick for that one.

If the parking version doesn't require you to prove your plate's on, you're lucky.
Bottom line. Without a front plate in LA, you will be snagged.

I dont' need to sign the parking version off then? Great but that means I'm down $25 too. Oh well, at least I don't have to find my front license plate mount to put my front license back on. But also, I do have my front license plate on my car, just not on the front of the car, instead, I have both of them in the back so I don't risk losing it. :p

A quick search of the California Vehicle Code yielded the following:
CALIFORNIA CODES
VEHICLE CODE
SECTION 5200-5206
5200. (a) When two license plates are issued by the department for
use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which
they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear.
So, like it or not, running without a front plate is in violation of the CVC. I usually run without, but keep it under the strap in the trunk that holds the box with the can of spare tire. If I get pulled over, I just say it fell off and I'll put it on as soon as I get home.
