I'm taking a gamble on the Greddy piping since I'm **assuming** their designs are portable to larger turbo's and, hopefully, isn't heat-problem prone.

I was told by Blast that this entire closed loop issue and drive by wire isn't a big problem for them because they've already done a 350Z and a G35 -- the only caveat is that you need the Vpro and it has to be standalone.

I'm hoping the tubing works, and as FE3P said before, then its only time before a T51R and an upgraded FMIC.

I dunno if this was already asked but it's the only thing keeping me from the Greddy turbo. How are you gonna deal with the legal aspect of the Turbo with California emissions being as strict as they are? I know the kit is definitely not CARB emissions approved, do you plan to have the kit uninstalled during each smog check or are you gonna find someone to pay off? And btw if you got someone to pay off, mind sending that name my way? :D

you're a party pooper
I would be the first to get the HKS Vpro w/ the RX8 harness (not in the US yet) with a larger set of injectors tuned professionally by Blast

DUDE! did you take any photos @ HIN?

Yeah I took quite a few. It was hard to get some good shots because of all the people who get in your way. So some of the photos I'll probably just get off nemisis, carandmodel, and purehotmodels. Let me know if you want some of the ones that I have though. Thanks again man!

Oh yeah, do you know if that shop does porting? I think I want to try to build up my car n/a, and want to get it ported by the end of the year.

update on car stuff

So, I got a partial list of items that will be upgraded -- I will probably have the full list by mid-week next week but here we go:

* Blast mentioned about enlarging some of the ports and re-doing the timing.
* New fuel system (he read off too many parts that I could right down)
* HKS Vpro install
* Engine disassembly and FD internal re-assembly
* New clutch (getting HKS' suggestion)
* Greddy Turbo Install
* Larger Injectors -- he mentioned to get 400whp, you need 720cc (he's still unsure about this, but he's thinking something around that size, I thought 550cc)
* Dyno Tuning and Street Tuning

He talked to his Greddy friend from Japan and said the Greddy turbo was only good for 420-450 HP MAX ... so, as a safe tune, Blast is targeting ~400whp.
Anything else he needs to add, he'll let me know ... but at least I know the engine will be able to handle the power ...

Alex, I'm intersted to see how all of this turns out. Once my warrenty runs out, I'll hopefully have enough money in order to do all of this. Let me know when everything is complete so me Moostafa and all the other local 8's can come and check it out Maybe you can charge us for a ride around the block in it, lol.

Right now, Blast will have my car in their garage this monday morning. The greddy kit hasn't arrived so they're going to start by doing the internal engine work. The HKS Vpro is there as well. As for fuel sysem components, I think he's going to order everything once the car is in and he looked over the stock components and if they can be reused.

I'm planning on spending $10k-$12k just to tout that I have a daily-driveable 400whp RX8 that's still a renesis (not FD swap).

ETA -- thus far, assuming some parts need to be ordered on the fly is late June to July.

I am planning on replacing my hood w/ a vented hood CF hood since I was suggested to. I also have to get a new exhaust but hoping I get sponsored by companies to do brakes and completely new suspension and perhaps a custom exhaust .. only because I dn't feel like spending money on those things but brakes is osmething I'm not including yet .. until Blast says so.

as for rides, no problem just gotta have good attendance one of these days in the bay area.

Is this kit going to be CARB approved or will you have issues once you need to start getting emissions tested?

Since the GReddy kit is not approved yet, I doubt pumping it up to 400whp with a bunch of other mods is going to pass any kind of emissions.

Here's the list, I added an item:

FD3S 13B Rotor and misc parts
HKS F-Con V Pro vehicle specific harness
SARD Top feed injectors
ACT clutch kit
Koyo Aluminum Radiator
Install/Remove/Disassemble/Assemble Engine
Port/Polish
Install turbo kit, intercooler etc.
Modify fuel system to return system
HKS Install/Tune F-Con V Pro
Misc parts and supplies (Oils, etc.)

And the total isn't all too bad,but I'll keep that to myself. I'll be going to Blast soon, my car is being taken apart today -- engine is out already I heard and is just waiting for parts to be swapped. I believe they're planning on the fuel system work and see for any other additional stuff under "misc" that may need to be done.

I'm actually not doing a full FD3S swap; rather its just the internal rotors, housings and a lot of rings and "whatnots". So, I don't have the overhead dealing w/ an FD swap.

-- edit --

man, i can't read today .. you said what I'm doing :D boy, somedays I gotta read things twice

Nice update. Do 13B-REW rotors fit well into our engines with the apex seals that came with it or is it getting a custom apex seal done? I heard that the difference between ours and FD's is significant. This is awesome Alex, can't wait to see it when it's done!

all I'm aware of (since the parts list were in japanese) were the rotors, all the necessary rings, the housings. I did recall talking to them about reinforcing the seals though, which I am thinking is what they're going to do since they like make things "bullet proof".

I thought the Renesis rotors were stronger than the 13brew rotors. Why would they wanna swamp them out?
