I've never been to a Mazda RX8 track day. Could somebody be so kind as to fill me in on what it entails, what it costs, and who can go? I've been to Willow Springs to film our Speed Channel Test Drive episodes, but I haven't actually raced there. I've had my RX8 for 2 years now, and I'd love to get her on the track.

Thanks! Oh, I live in LA too!

all the info can be found here:

http://www.speedventures.com

it is an open track day so anyone can sign up. you get (5) 20 or 25 minute sessions on the track. streets of willow usually costs $150 and $20 for helmet rental if needed. wait a week or so to sign up and we will give you a code to get free timing.

Might be attending this event. Anyone have tow eyes on a stock front bumper (and rear for that matter) solved? I can't seem to find any info.

Thanks.

Got the PM. Thanks. My concern with the stock tow hook is that the manual (if I recall correctly) specifically warned against towing using the tow hook saying it would damage the bumper and that it should only be used as a tie down. Perhaps it was referring to long distance towing???

Anyone had any problems being pulled out of the dirt/gravel/kitty litter with the stock tow hook?

I've used the rear tow hook to tow someone else out of a ditch and there seemed to be no issues.

They just paved they track again. does this mean we are going to have 1/8" stones flying around like last year when they paved the end of the straight?

just wondering--anybody run the stock bridgestones re050's in summer track days?? how are they vs overheating? i was planning on running them first as a baseline (first track day with the rx8 for me) but i don't know if i should just jump the gun and buy myself a new set of wheels and tires.
