Stinkin DMV
I don't know how foolish this sounds and I probably wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell at fighting it, but the California Vehicle Code 5105(a) mentions Environmental plates specifically, I didn't order the Envrionment plates. I orderd the plain look ones, and didn't see any mention of helping the environment in any way with them.
Would this be a loophole? I doubt I would take it to court their lawyers would eat alive any lawyer I could afford.
It does have a number I can call, and when I tried it was busy. You would think they would have a complcated call center with a large call capacity.

This is what it said.
"Unfortunately, we are unable to approve the request license plate configuration for the following reaspon(s):
1. California Vehicle Code, Section 5105(a), states, we must refuse any licence plate configuration which carried connotations offensive to good taste and decency, or which may be misleading to some of our citizens."
Here is what it says for Section 5105(a):
5105. (a) An applicant for issuance of environmental license plates or renewal of such plates in the subsequent year pursuant to this article shall file an application therefor in such form and by such date as the department may require, indicating thereon the combination of letters or numbers, or both, requested as a registration number. There shall be no duplication of registration numbers, and the department may refuse to issue any combination of letters or numbers, or both, that may carry connotation offensive to good taste and decency or which would be misleading or a duplication of license plates provided for in Article 8 (commencing with Section 5000) of Chapter 1 of Division 3.

Whenever I have heard someone mentioning sitting and spinning it is in reference to someone flipping them the bird. When someone flips you off, you tell them to sit and spin. The person that rejected you was probably thinking about that phrase in reference to that, not what you meant it to be.

Beavis and Butthead DMV
"Huh...Huh...Huh... He said, 'Sit-n-spin'" - Butthead
When I was in high school (many moons ago)
, sit-n-spin was also a bad reference, but we were high school boys with our minds in the gutter 99% of the time. I think some of the people at the DMV watch too many episodes of Beavis and Butthead, and everything has some sort of connotation or innuendo to them.
Grow up DMV -
Still waiting for my plates - FASTRX8 -
Hope they don't see the word 'FAST' and associate with an 'Easy' girl.

Haha no kidding. Or you might be offending someone with a slow car, or people who have slow minds, like the people who are at the DMV doing plate verification.
Yeah I know the refrence, but most of my family, friends, and co-workers didn't see anything wrong with it. So I figured it wouldn't offend the general public in any way.

FYI - "Enviornmental Plate" = personalized plate. Long ago when the personalized plates started the funds raised were suppose to go to envornmental causes like picking up the trash along the side of the highway.
Looks like you got a prude governmental employee at the DMV.
Here is a good plate "XE5 (heart sign) I" print this out and look at it in the mirror.
