I got home from work to find that my basset hound has been shot again. 2 wounds in the top of her back as if someone leaned over the fence and shot down at her.
Police on their way.
11 months since the last time it happened, but shot 11 times between Jan 2009 and May of 2009.
My camera system went up, no more occurances, had to take it down for the new roof and siding, and as it was going into winter, weather too bad to put back up, and haven't gotten around to it yet. Looks like I am bumping that to the top of the list again.

Some, not many. Police just took the report. Likely a kid. There are still 3 pellets lodged in her from last year. I haven't found pellets yet from these 2 injuries, really have to wait for my wife to come home, 2 person job to clean the wounds and stuff.

I have a 6ft privacy fence around the whole yard except the back, where it's 4ft and lots of trees. Not really that easy to see into my yard. They stopped last year after I put up my cameras, but it also happened to be the same time that the neighbor behind us had his parents over with their 2 German Sheppards that they kept outside during the day... so not sure which thing stopped them. Another neighbor had pellet holes in her siding, and another in their windows during the same time frame. Nothing since until today.

I freakin' love bassets but even more so, i love animals in general. It really pisses me off when people do that kinda bullshit. I'd be furious. . .
if givin a chance i would lodge a couple of those pellets in their face at the very least...

RIWWP: sorry to hear about your dog. I too am an animal lover and it infuriates me to see innocent animals harmed like that.
good luck cleaning the wounds, hopefully he heals soon and the attacks can stop because that will take it's toll on your dog emotionally if the attacks continue.

oh man that sucks RIWWP, i use to have a basset/lab mix when i was in high school and the neighbors hated him and would throw rocks at him because he always barked, i finally told the little ****** "if i see another rock come from your fence, i will make sure you can never throw another rock again, dont you ******* understand that the more you throw rocks, the more he will bark you dumb ****"

Pre-cleaned up, one higher, one lower. The drying blood lines point back to the impact spots
The first one, nearly perfect circle, suggests that the trajectory is almost straight down into her back
Second one, more triangular, suggests a more horizonal trajectory, probably as she was running away from the first shot.
I say again...
