I'm going to be running Windows 7, I hate the Media Center thing so I'm just doing plain ole WMP12 since it renders video files pretty nicely compared to all the other stuff I tired (winamp, VLC, etc). I'm not going to install any other software except for the necessary codecs and drivers. I still need to buy a remote or a wireless multimedia keyboard.

OH! Oops, I'm not sure, we currently have 3 wireless/ 2 Cat6 connected to one, and 4 wireless / 1 Cat6 connected to another. I'm using IPV6 protocol on my computer, two modems FTW.

It's mainly for movie/music/TV purposes so I'm thinking of getting at least 1TB, I don't need anything fancy for this. I wish I had the money for a couple of SSD's for my main computer, that would be l33t. Actually, dozer have two 15k RPM HDD that he has sitting around, shoot him an offer and he might sell it.

I needed a processor that would be powerful enough to play 1080p video files without lagging, I've had this happen on my old P4 which was 3.6ghz with plenty of RAM and a nice Vid Card, so I opted for the E8400 Core2duo with 4gb of 800mhz DDR2, it should be more than sufficient for smooth playback, and like I said before, it's for a HTPC so I went with an el-cheapo video card, an 8600GS, rofl.

my professor says he has a buddy who works with companies managing large servers and the SSD tend to degrade in speed over time when constantly processing lots of data...says he had to replace thousands of Solid state drives in a server only after 2 months cause they were slowing down too much

You should see the text messages we exchange about Aion, rofl. Not to mention the phone calls about Aion randomness.
