Evil John: Use the ZOOM engine cleaner to fix that, it's designed to knock all that gunk off the intake ports. The reason why it got stuck is because the previous owner had too much oil going down the intake (oil blowback) and gunked it up. I know you have an oil catch can now so you should be fine but all the gunk is still there from the previous owner... make sure you didn't install the hoses backwards on the oil catch can.

Let me make a picture of how an oil catch can works.

Mazda officially said that the spark plugs will last 60k miles.... or was it 50? I can't remember.

Here's my l33t MS Paint picture of a basic oil catch can.

Evil John, make sure to open up the catch can to see if you installed it right.

Since Evil John is not replying, I'm guessing he's out taking a look at his oil catch can to make sure it's on right.

The only way you can tell is if they have writing on it saying which hose is in and/or out... or by opening up the oil catch can.

OMFG! You know how expensive it is to change out your transmission fluid?

It takes nearly ten quarts of ATF fluid and a filter... lets say you do Redline or Royal Purple @ $10 per quart... that's already $100 bucks!

Mike: +1 w/what john said - in fluids along you'll be close to $100 then if want to do the full flush and swap they're gonna have to drop the pan plus replace the filter (yes, there's a filter). On top of the $100 for fluids, you're gonna need another $100 or so for maintenance.
