****...well now i have i want to say an inch gap from the 2 pipes......im afraid to start it....btw i didnt buy any flanges(those metal things that mazdatrix has rite?) i jsut took off my stock cat and through on the exoticspeed pipe.......still confused...should i be fine for now? hoping all the smog air goes into the other pipe?? or whats your ideas

and i put the springs like they were on the stock cat

is it ok for me to start it up?
what can i expect?
it wont like light my undercar on fire while driving rite?
what do you think i should do?

that sounds fine thats how it was when i installed matts midpipe just turn it on and make sure there is no leaks

 

how will i no if there are leaks?
btw i read sum other posts by people and they said that the exoticspeed doesn't fit too well...now im just like ugh...

 

that was the catback though and it was the first version of it they have fixed the fitment issues, just turn it on and put your hand close to it and feel if there is air which i doubt

hey zumn...just tried out an exoticspeed midpipe on my car today and with my exhaust setup it sounded like i was running a v12 ....spent all day installing it and now taking it off cuz there no way in hell i could drive it round here =/

ya but it was like omg is that a tank coming i went up my street in 2nd gear and my ears were like omg this **** is f'n loud.~like g-dam~~!!! if only i didnt have work tomro morning i owuld leave it on longer but its like you hear me coming from a few blocks a way just at idle~!

haha overall fail tho cuz its too loud for everyday use

 

hey miike where do the springs go??? i put them between the 2 metal things....so im assuming im wrong cuz i put the old cat back on and its way too loud....so i messed up with that again....i dont understand/remember where the old springs go... towards the rear or front?
its pitch black outside and now im starting to freak out=/

 

lokal yeah welcome to rolling with a midpipe! Did you take any pictures of the fitment with the catback? Did you take off the gasket between the OEM cat and put it between your midpipe and catback?

ok so i fixed the springs thing and wow wtf....i should just brought my car to one the meets with you guys lol....im so like ughhh

there is still air leaking from the 3 bolt thing where they are as tight as possible but it seems to have escaped sum air there....so i dont no what to do about that..
is there somehting i can buy for it?

btw can either of you guys help me out tomro around 2 or so with this??? cuz im just like wtf....

 

Go to autozone/whatever and get some high temp gasket sealer, the highest temp stuff they got it will be orange and smear it between everything

 

Oh and buy some new bolts for where the midpipe attaches to the header, that will make future swaps much easier

does that orange stuff come off? cuz i got to remove the pipe in a year for smog test

i need to get new bolts and screws for all of them...cuz they all stripped or just rusted out... you no where i can get em? i tried autozone today but they didnt have any the bolts or screws....

 

It will quiet down when there is no leak...mine was crazy loud when I first put it on...but after I fixed it the sound was not as bad.
