just looked at the sheet. very nice!
looks like that was hard to do.
is there any way of getting it so that it is set up for all year (which should be 12 races) so that all that is needed is to fill in the blanks when the time comes?

Awesome spreadsheet. (nerd talking)
I had some ideas, but instead of starting from scratch, I tweaked your's.
Basically, I seperated the data entry into one sheet, and allowed for different classes each race, incase someone co-drives in a car w/ a different classification than their own.
All the data entry is done on one tab, and I just plugged in the #'s from the last event.
Also, I put everyone's name in alphabetical order by First name.
Take a look, and use whatever parts you like.

Heh, we are total geeks. Nice work. I like some of the ideas... in fact I already did some similar stuff last night such as separating out to seperate sheets. I also did some work on automatically dropping the low events. It can do 0, 1, or 2 drops.
I like how you made the data entry sheet really simple and how the overal score stays on the screen when you scroll. I hardly ever use Excel, so half the time I'm in the help system trying to figure out how the damn thing works. I'll have to do some work to incorporate our ideas... but for now I have to do real work so I don't get fired.

I don't like the idea of alpha ordering...I think it should be based on current position. Also, we need to be VERY careful on indexing....for the most part, it will remain pretty much the same this year...but there may be exceptions where people add race tires...or change classes given a co-drive or so.
For example....Jason M drove a BSP car last event, so the BS indexing is incorrect. Also, I ran a couple of events this year with STU indexing....the rest with BSP indexing...
I know the example was a practice run...but I just wanted to highlight it since it is something we need to be aware of throughout the year....

yes it is something that we will have to stay on top of next year... but I am sure we will catch that.
also I to dont like the alpha ordering. I like the 1st 2nd 3rd.. ect ordering.

Keep in ordered by alpha at the top...or, keep the order based on finishing position this year....this way, we can see how people are doing in the 2007 season compared to how they ran in 2006.

question:
I have a guy in the RX-7 forum (yeah I still talk there) that is interested in running with us. he has a FD. since SS runs first, can he run with us but do X runs? I am sure he would really much rather run with us guys then on his own before we even get there. sounds to me that it is his first time.

speaking of RX7's....if we add them to the Cup...we will need to change it from "2007 RX8 Cup" to "2007 Rotary Challenge"<----- taken from Forza...don't know/care if it is copyrighted.
Since Jessie is thinking of bringing his FC out...and there has been that guy witht he silver FC a couple of times....Scotty with his FD (but he never seems to run anymore)....but if we do this, we probably need to include only those who are on the forum...because "Irish" drives that F-Prepared Fc.....

..... lets just keep it RX-8 cup.
that just opens a whole lot of worms. at least this way we are all driving an RX-8. we have the same platform.

I agree....I mean, if they really wanted to compete for the prestigious RX8 Cup...then they would trade their old FC's in for 8's.
As for your RX7 friend...why cant he just race/register in BSP?

I got the sorting thing fixed.
After every event it will sort by rank, and not mess up any info or equations.
I'm kinda busy right now at work, and I need to leave early so I'll post the newer version of the spreadsheet tomorrow.
But for now, just know that the sorting is not an issue, and if you run a different class each month it won't be an issue either.

FD's are SS cars, not BS cars.
what does a modded FD get put into? ASP? although I would think AS cars would get put into this. I guess he could register as BSP and just get DQ'ed if anyone notices. I imagine he would not do well enough to make people notice.????

no one would allow an FD to register for BS or BSP....I guess I didn't read your previous post well enough....I made the ASSumption that he had an FC...
...I think Scotty said that he was to race in SM2....I think that is what he said.

I could always tell him to run SM2. at least he would get to watch us, and we/i could get to watch him without either of us staying late or comming in early.

edit:
Chance of light rain. High 62F and low 43F. Winds light. 45% chance of rain.

I just noticed CalClub uses this retarded formula to calculate points:
Driver’s Points = 100 – 400 [(Drivers Time – Winning Time) / Winning Time]
All you have to do is drive more than 25% slower than the leader, and you get negative points.
Our spreadsheets are using San Diego's system: 100*(Winning Time / Drivers Time), which I definitely prefer.
