SF Bay Greddy turbo install

I am planning to put the Greddy turbo on my 8 soon, hopefully also a mild street port while I'm at it.

I saw Blast Racing mentioned in this forum, but couldn't find 'em on the web (www.blastracing.com doesn't work & a Google search was fruitless).

Anyway, I need the turbo installed along with a BOV, oil catch, and eManage tuning (especially if I get ported).

I'm sure there's a question in there somewhere, but all I see are simple statements. What are you trying to ask?

This is what having small children does to your brain!

Yes, I am looking for an installer near Oakland where I live.

Thanks.

Rick's Rotary is in Pleasanton. He's installed a greddy kit in his own automatic and knows how to play with the emanage.

Well...

I am sure if you pay me well enough I could do it for you. I have installed a couple of turbos in Miatas along with full ECU and tuining and helped with a few more.

I am waiting for my 8 to hit the 50K so I can say bye bye to the warranty and say hi to the turbo...

Why can't just do it yourself?

You know that once you install the turbo it won't be as easy as plug and play and forget it right?

Blast Racing

Yeah, Blast Racing doesn't have a website or advertise because (from what I've been told) they don't have to. They have a lot of business come to them.

the reason I went to them is because of their reputation, the fact they're an HKS certified tuners, and they have done a ton of feature cars including RX7's, I trust them for this work. I was told Blast are very meticulous about their work, as with all shops.

If you want Blast's #, just let me know. These guys are incredibly busy so finding time with these guys can be an issue.

Blasts' Info

oh, i found their website, its not functioning but it has their contact info on the bottom:

http://www.blastracingusa.com

The main guy to talk to (who speaks english) is Naoto. Just ask for him regarding the RX8 they have (Alex's).

I talked to Rick today, and there are pluses & minuses:

Plus side:
He provides a 1 year warranty, which for me is a must.
Rick clearly knows what he's doing, including the eManage tuning.

Minus;
ka-CHING! The most expensive quote I've gotten so far

I'm sure a good part of that install cost was the warranty. How many other installers will back up their work like that?

Matt @ Mazdaparts.com turned me on to John Huh at ProStreetOnline (Hayward) http://www.prostreetonline.com/

So far, their pricing & service are a lot better than anyone else I've talked to.

Just curious, how are you planning to pass your smog test? Don't you have to remove the turbo and return the car to stock? Is that easy?

Man... passing the smog test is going to be hard, now with that new Smog2 machines.

I remember having my Vortech isntalled in my old Civic Si.... it didn't even have a CaRB sticker just a l a blank piece of metal with the title CARB on top. Yikes..

I don't think there is anyway now in California to actually modify your car legally and make it pass smog.
